CAHL 2006-2007
All-Star Game on Saturday, May 5th
.
The CAHL 2006-2007
All-Star Game featured the top players of the Weekday Division
and the Weekend Division in a battle for supremacy. There were
458 goals, 497 assists, and 955 points of combined firepower
between the two squads which had to face up against a wall of
2310 saves and nine shutouts of combined top notch goaltending.
The Weekday Division All-Stars were the eventual winners as they
defeated the Weekend Division All-Stars by the score of
7-4.
Weekday Division 144 point All-Star scorer, Shamrock
Geoff Zimmerman,
possessing a lethal wrist shot, averaged a goal every 25 seconds
as he scored an awe-inspiring natural hat trick in the second
period during a span of just one minute and 15 seconds.
Geoff Zimmerman was
awarded the CAHL 2006-2007 All-Star MVP Trophy for his
spectacular four goals, one assist, and five point performance.
Weekend Division All-Star goaltender
Geoff Hwang's
first save of the night, which was against a point blank shot,
was a sign of the many more outstanding saves to come in his
second half of the game.
Hwang
denied a one timed shot from the slot within the first minute of
the third period, turned aside another one timed shot shortly
after, which was later followed up by a great point blank glove
save.
Hwang would cap off the night
with one more excellent save off yet another one timer
with less than a minute to go in the game.
Geoff Hwang stopped 20 of the
21 shots he faced for a superb .952 save percentage and was
awarded the CAHL 2006-2007 All-Star MVP Trophy for his
incredible performance.
Weekday Division All-Star
Brett Watts, the top
scorer of the Ice Storm, and
Kent Gillings formed a
formidable trio along with
Geoff Zimmerman.
Brett Watts opened the
scoring at just 2:32 into the game and assisted on three of
Zimmerman's goals for
an awesome four point night.
Kent Gillings displayed
his excellent puck handling skills throughout the match as he
assisted on a pair of
Zimmerman's goals.
Tim Robinson showed why
he was the Weekday Division Shockers top scorer during the
regular season as he scored a great goal late in the first
period and notched an assist on the opening goal by
Brett Watts for a total of
two points. The Rockets second top scorer and shorthanded goal
specialist Scott Bouwman
scored a stunning goal in the first frame as he skated out from
the corner and roofed the puck at the 1:22 mark. Point per game
defenceman, Rocket Kurt Bransma,
contributed two assists, one in each of the first two periods.
Shocker Scott Ellard, the
Weekday Division leading All-Star goalie, turned aside 16 shots
including a terrific save even without the use of his arm or
goal stick as arm was behind his back while his stick got caught
in the net during a scramble around the net. Shamrock goaltender
Ryan Steel, who finished
the Weekday Division regular season with the most wins and the
second best goals against average, played the second half and
stopped a trio of breakaways in just the third period alone
including one with a perfectly timed poke check.
Weekend Division
All-Star,
Brian Abildgaard,
continued his torrid goal per game pace during the regular
season as he led the offence with a pair of goals and an assist
for a great three point night. Jets sniper and second top scorer
in the entire division,
Jason Wroblewsky, scored
a goal early in the third period.
Number 19,
Piechotta of the Sofa
Kings fired in a power play goal on a rare all-star penalty with
just over five minutes remaining in the game.
Jets
Chris
Macgregor,
the outstanding leading scorer of the Weekend Division,
contributed an assist on
Piechotta's power play
marker.
The Dragons top scorer Daniel Leblanc
assisted on
Jason Wroblewsky's goal
and one of
Brian Abildgaard's
goals as well for two points on the night.
David Hughes, the Pylons
number one scorer and the Pylons 1.19 points per game defenceman
Trevor Hughes,
both assisted Pylon teammate
Brian Abildgaard's
first goal of the game.
All-star goaltender
Martin Gregoire led the
Weekend Division in the regular season with an astonishing 2.07
goals against average and displayed his skills once again during
the first period with a great breakaway save. However an even
better moment came later when he made a fantastic glove grab on
a two on one break.

Ice Storm vs.
Reapers on Tuesday, May 1st
On Tuesday night, the
Ice Storm lost to the Reapers
by the score of 11-3. Ice
Storm player of the game goaltender
Shaughn McAuliffe
made a big glove stop on a breakaway in the second period and an
even better awesome glove grab on a two man breakaway in the
third frame. Brian Sawchuk and
Patrick Lauzon each
scored a goal an assist for two big points apiece.
Brett Watts also had a two
point effort as he set up a pair of goals.
Chris Sawchuk opened the
scoring for the Ice Storm with a goal late in the first period
and
Martin Bownes
contributed an assist on the night.
Goaltender
Tyler Corrigall was the
player of the game for the Reapers as he stopped 36 of the 39
shots aimed his way for an excellent .923 save percentage.
During a flurry of chances around his crease in the third period
Corrigall deflected a
point blank shot with his glove and followed up the rebound with
a tremendous catcher save on yet another point blank shot.
Jamie Ryan,
Daniel Wallace,
Domenic Niro, and
Joe Nitychoruk combined
for a total of 20 points for the Reapers with each player
notching huge five point efforts.
Jamie Ryan sped past two
defenders in the first period to score an excellent breakaway
goal and the first of his three goals for the great hat trick,
two assist, five point night.
Daniel Wallace scored
his second straight hat trick and now has six goals and two
assists in just his last two games. Captain
Domenic Niro notched a pair of goals and three big assists
while
Joe Nitychoruk scored
one goal and had four great assists.
Steve Dand and goalie
Tyler Corrigall each
contributed an assist in the win.

Shockers vs.
Ice Storm on Tuesday, April 24th
The
Shockers won 11-4 on Tuesday night
against the
Ice Storm. Goalie and Shockers player
of the game,
Scott Ellard, was awesome
between the pipes as he made a total of 27 stops which included
a huge save during the third period with his outstretched arms,
while he was already down, against a wraparound. Earlier in the
game
Scott responded to three
separate great scoring chances with three excellent pad stack
saves in the second period alone.
Tyler Richardson,
Cody Miller, and all-star
Tim Robinson each buried
a couple of pucks in the match.
Tyler and
Cody both had an assist as
well for big three point nights. Captain
Brett Borgland,
Jesse McLean, all-star
Adam Giesbrecht,
Carson Papke, and
Daniel Swyripa all
contributed a goal apiece.
Brett,
Adam ,
Daniel,
Carson and
Jesse each set up goals
as well for good two point efforts.
Riley Haugen had a big
game with a pair of assists.
Goaltender
Nate Kazimir was the Ice
Storm player of the game deflecting 35 pucks including 21 in
just the third period. Nate
made a great diving save on a rebound opportunity in the second
period. However, his best moments were in the final period when
he stopped a one timed shot from a two on one break and even
made an incredible stop on a clear cut two man breakaway chance.
Brian Sawchuk fired in a pair of goals for the Ice Storm.
Martin Robichaud had
a big two point game as well netting a goal and an assist while
Dallas Blommaert
contributed one goal on the night.

Potters vs.
Ice Storm on Monday, April 16th
The
score was tied 4-4 late in the third period and
Potter
Kirk Ringuette's penalty
had just expired. That was when
Jeff Bourassa passed the
puck over to Kirk Ringuette
and just a moment later Kirk
sent a perfect feed to
Ryan Shand who then buried
the puck to take a 5-4 lead with just 1:31 left on the clock.
However, the
Ice Storm did not relent and pulled
their goalie for an extra attacker. The Potters were able to
hold off the Ice Storm for the final 91 seconds for the exciting
5-4 victory.
Kirk Ringuette also set
up another goal earlier in the game to finish with a big two
point night.
Kevin Demyon had a pair of
assists as well while
Chad Cox notched one goal and
one assist.
Dave Maskwa scored twice to
go along with an assist for a great three point player of the
game effort.
Brendan Engdahl
contributed a goal in the second frame. Goalie Joseph Low made
some nice butterfly saves in the win.
Ice Storm goaltender
Derrick was his team's player of the game as he made one great
save after another for a total of 41 stops including breakaways
saves in each of the last two periods.
Brett Watts finished with
three big points scoring one goal and two assists.
Nick Oriold fired in a
pair of goals while
Shaughn McAuliffe
got one goal and one assist.
Martin Robichaud
notched two helpers and
Jason Petelski and

Ice Storm vs.
Blues on Monday, April 9th
The
Ice Storm lost on Monday night to the
Blues by the score of 5-4. Ice Storm top scorer and goalie
Patrick Lauzon was the
player of the game as he made a number of great stops including
numerous big pad stack saves throughout the match. The trio of
Martin Robichaud,
Brett Watts, and
Nick Oriold all had good
two point nights.
Martin Robichaud
rifled in two pucks including a great second period goal where
he split the defence to go in all alone and score.
Nick Oriold contributed
two assists while
Brett Watts picked up one
of each, a goal and an assist.
Dallas Blommaert also
scored netting his ninth of the season. Dual skilled as a goalie
and defenceman, Nate Kazimir
set up one goal on the night.
The Blues are powering up just in time for the playoffs as they
picked up their second win in as many games thanks to another
late game winner by their top scorer
Jamie Sexton. Player of the
game Jamie Sexton scored a
total of two goals and an assist.
Raja Bhattacharyya
scored a huge goal to tie things up at four apiece just 10
seconds before Jamie scored
the eventual game winner.
Kevin Baragon had a great
three point game with an early first period goal and assists on
both the game tying goal and the game winning goal.
Jorden VanCamp also
contributed an assist. Goaltender
Josh Wildey finished with 18
saves including a great glove grab on a puck that was seemingly destined
for the top corner during the second period.

Ice Storm vs.
Shamrocks on Monday, April 2nd
The
Ice Storm were defeated 9-4 by the
Shamrocks on Monday night.
Shaughn McAuliffe
scored twice, including a great breakaway goal, and finished
with a three point player of the game effort for the Ice Storm.
Chris Sawchuk and
Jason Petelski each had
another big multi-point night as both players scored a goal and
an assist.
Chris Sawchuk now has
six points in his last two games while
Jason Petelski has
seven points over the same span.
Blake Mihalic and
Nick Oriold contributed an
assist apiece. Goaltender
Nate Kazimir made 14
saves in the first period, 11 in the second, and 10 in the third
for a total of 35 stops which included numerous great saves.
Cody Hull went from 44
points on the season to 48 in just one match as he had an excellent player of
the game, two goal and two assist night.
Dale Lewko and
Kent Gillings had great
four point games as well with
Dale netting two goals and
two assists while
Kent notched one
goal and three assists.
Geoff Zimmerman
collected his 50th assist of the season and finished the night
with one goal and two assists.
Chad Shoemaker,
Duncan MacLean, and
Kevin Hamm each
contributed at least a goal.
Chad Shoemaker added a
pair of assists as well for great three point games while
Duncan MacLean netted
one assist for a big two point night. Goalie
Ryan Steel made some
excellent stops including a number from short range and finished
with a total of 25 saves in the win.

Rockets vs.
Ice Storm on Wednesday, March 28th
Steve Brandon wasted little time and fired in his 50th goal
of the season early in the game, just 2:53 into the first
period. Steve Brandon
scored his 51st and 52nd goals of the season as well to finish
with a great hat trick, player of the game performance for the
Rockets.
The
Ice Storm had their best offensive
showing since February and went home with a 10-6 win over the
Rockets. The player of the game for the Ice Storm, defenceman
Martin Robichaud, was
great as he launched in a pair of goals.
Jason Petelski,
Chris Sawchuk, and
Shaughn McAuliffe
all scored two goals as well.
Jason Petelski also had
three assists for a huge total of five points,
Chris Sawchuk added two
assists for an excellent total of four points, and
Shaughn McAuliffe
picked up one assist for a big total of three points.

Shockers vs.
Ice Storm on Tuesday, March 20th
The
Shockers shutout the
Ice Storm 9-0 on Tuesday night.
Shockers goalie and player of the game
Scott Ellard notched his
third shutout of the season by stopping all of the 25 pucks
fired his way. Scott Ellard
pushed his leading save percentage to virtually 90% and is
currently at the .897 mark.
Adam Giesbrecht and
Riley Haugen provided the
bulk of the Shocker firepower with each player netting at least
four points.
Adam Giesbrecht scored
a hat trick and picked up two assists for a huge total of five
points.
Riley Haugen launched in
a natural hat trick over a span of 15:11 averaging one goal
every five minutes.
Riley contributed an
assist as well for a total of four points.
Tim Robinson tallied his
50th, 51st, and 52nd points of the season in only his 21st game
by scoring one goal and two assists.
Andrew Knouse and
Carson Papke were the
other two goal scorers on the night. The trio of
Eric Tang,
Curtis Foss, and
Tyler Richardson had
a total of four assists.

Monday, March 12th
The
Ice Storm were defeated by the Reapers
6-3 on Monday night. Ice Storm goalie and player of the game
Nate Kazimir made some
great saves and finished with a total of 32 stops including
stopping 14 of the 15 shots aimed his way in the third period
alone to give his team a comeback chance.
Blake Mihalic led the
Ice Storm offence with a big two point night scoring a goal and
an assist.
Patrick Lauzon and
Martin Robichaud both
scored first period goals while
Brett Watts contributed an
assist.
After being down 2-0 the Reapers scored five unanswered goals
for their third straight win. Goaltender
Tyler Corrigall made a
number of excellent stops and was the player of the game for the
Reapers. Tyler, who
also contributed an assist, faced an average of one shot per
minute and turned aside 39 of the 42 pucks fired his way for an
awesome .929 save percentage.
Scott Kazmerik and
Joe Nitychoruk led the
goal scoring with each player launching in a pair of goals and
an assist.
Peter Donahoe amassed
four assists for a fantastic four point night.
Daniel Wallace and
Ryan Kazmerik each netted
a goal and an assist for two big points apiece.

Wednesday, March 7th
The
Ice Storm defeated the
Gorillas 8-3.

Jason getting a pair of
goals and an assist while
Blake had the reverse

Potters defeated the
Ice Storm 9-5 to take over third
place in the standings.
Potters' leading goal scorer
Jason Villeneuve
opened the scoring with an early breakaway goal just 35 seconds
into the match.
Ian Baskob was the Potters
player of the game as he amassed an outstanding total of seven
points on two goals and five assists.

Dustyn Auramenko
all had big three point efforts with the trio of

Monday, February 19th
The
Ice Storm defeated the
Blues by the score of 10-4
on Monday night. Ice Storm player of the game
Jason Petelski scored
his third and hat trick goal of the night on a wrist shot
while flying down the right wing at the 5:46 mark of the third
period.
Jason also contributed
an assist for an excellent total of four points.
Blake Mihalic had a
great four point night as well with one goal and three assists.
Number 39
Brett Watts scored a goal
and six assists for a colossal total of seven points.
Chris Sawchuk scored his
first of two goals on a breakaway and finished with three
points.
Martin Robichaud and
Reilly Smith both
had great three point games scoring a goal and two assists
apiece.
Mike Rowbotham scored
one goal and one assist while
Shaughn McAuliffe
had an assist as well.
Ice Storm goaltender
Nate Kazimir deflected a
total of 21 shots and made some awesome saves on the night such
as in the second period when he was seemingly already down and
out from the first shot and still managed to get a glove on the
rebound.
Nate also made some
memorable stops in third period getting a pad on
Mike Johnson's shot who made
a great move to get in all alone on the Ice Storm goaltender.
Nate turned aside a great
chance later in the period as well when he stopped a point blank
one timer shot on a pass from behind the net.
Blues number 18
Chris Martyniuk scored
his first goal of the game on a bullet top corner slap shot
while speeding down the right hand side towards the Ice Storm
net.
Chris also made a great
centering pass for an assist and fired in one more goal to
finish with an excellent total of three points.
Mike Johnson had a great two
goal game as well firing in a goal in each of the last two
periods including his most memorable goal when he deked around
an Ice Storm player for the second time in the period and went
in all alone to score at the 1:51 mark.
Chad Bolger finished with two
big assists while
Andrew Massicotte and
Joe Reynolds each
contributed an assist as well.
Goalie
Josh Wildey made an excellent
glove save on a point blank shot from just outside the crease
area and also on a breakaway kicking aside the puck his right
pad in the second period.
Josh made another great
breakaway save later in the match in the third period as well
and finished the game with a total of 31 stops.

Monday, February 12th
The
Ice Storm were defeated by the
Shamrocks 15-5. Number 21
Patrick Lauzon was the
player of the game for the Ice Storm as he scored two goals and
an assist for a great three point night.
Chris Sawchuk made a
multi-point contribution too getting a goal and a helper.
Kevin Flynn scored a power
play goal from the point in the second period and
Blake Mihalic fired in a
puck as well.
Martin Robichaud,

each helped set up a goal on the night. Goaltender
Nate Kazimir made some
great point blank stops and turned aside a total of 40 pucks
aimed his way.
The captain of the Shamrocks,
Geoff Zimmerman, not
only scored his 50th goal of the season but also added his 51st,
52nd, 53rd, 54th, 55th, and 56th goals and ended the night with
a season high total of seven goals and 11 points.
Josh Hamill,
Kevin Hamm, and
Kent Gillings all had
fantastic four point games.
Josh scored a pair of
goals and assists while
Kevin and
Kent both had one goal
and three assists. John Fisher
launched in a pair of pucks too and also picked up a helper for
three big points.
Josh Stasyk and
Lanny McConnel each
added a couple of assists. Chad Larson
had a good game as well with one goal and one assist.
Cody Hull also scored and
Chad Shoemaker netted
an assist. Goalie
Ryan Steel finished with
27 saves including some awesome glove and pad stops on the
night.

Rockets vs. Ice Storm on
Wednesday, February 7th
The
Rockets increased their third period
lead to 6-2 against the Ice Storm
when
Scott Bouwman scored and
picked up his third point of the night at the 8:49 mark. The
Ice Storm replied to the four goal
deficit by scoring four unanswered goals and just three minutes
and 16 seconds later the game was tied 6-6. Neither team scored
in the final minutes after the lightning quick four goal rally
and both teams skated off with a point for their efforts.
Team top scorer Steve Brandon,
Kurt Bransma, and
Mike Parton all had good two point
games for the Rockets.
Steve and
Kurt both had one goal and
one assist while
Mike notched two assists.
Eric Havinga,
Steven Havinga, and
Jordan Pinkster each
fired in a goal on the night. Goalie
Phil Bonk deflected 16 of the
Ice Storm shots and finished with some big saves.
Shaughn McAuliffe
was the player of the game for the Ice Storm contributing two
big points scoring the Ice Storm's fifth goal of the game and
assisting on the fourth goal. Number 10
Jason Petelski and
number eight Dallas Blommaert
both had good two point nights as well with each player netting
a goal and an assist.
Brett Watts scored the
game tying goal which was also short handed.
Martin Robichaud
fired in his team's first goal of the night and
Blake Mihalic started
the four goal comeback with a power play marker. Goaltender
Nate Kazimir not only
finished with some good saves and a total of 15 stops but also
picked up an assist as well.

Tuesday, January 30th
The
Shockers shutout the
Ice Storm 4-0. Goalie
Scott Ellard was the
Shockers player of the game making 12 saves for the big shutout
victory. Captain
Brett Borgland,
Tyler Richardson,
Cody Miller, and
Matt Patterson were the
goal scorers while
Adam Giesbrecht,
Curtis Foss, and
Jesse McLean set them up.
Ice Storm goalie and
player of the game Nate Kazimir
was outstanding turning aside 40 of the 44 shots fired his way
including 13 saves in the first frame to keep it a scoreless
game even though the Ice Storm were out shot 13-3 in the period.

Monday, January 22nd
The
Ice Storm and the Reapers
tied 4-4. Ice Storm
Chris Sawchuk scored the
game tying goal with just 2:33 remaining in the game after the
Reapers took a 4-3 lead just two minutes and 11 seconds earlier.

Kyle Myden, and
Brett Watts also scored
while
Shaughn McAuliffe,
Martin Robichaud,
Blake Mihalic,
Patrick Lauzon, and
Mike Rowbotham each
added an assist.
Nick Oriold picked up a
helper to go with his goal for a two point night. Goaltender
Nate Kazimir was the
player of the game for the Ice Storm with a total of 27 saves

Ice Storm vs.
Gorillas on
Wednesday, November 22nd
The Ice Storm
were down 3-2 after the first period but scored 11 goals in the
second frame to win 13-4
over the Gorillas. Number nine
Reilly Smith was the
player of the game for the Ice Storm with an amazing five point
night launching in a hat trick and two assists which moved him
up from fifth to third overall in the scoring race. Both
Patrick Lauzon and
Blake Mihalic fired in
hat tricks as well. Blake's
first of three goals was a short handed game winner and
Patrick added an assist
on the team's 13th goal for a total of four points.
Dallas Blommaert also
had an great four point performance with two goals and two
assists.
Nick Oriold and
Martin Robichaud each
had big three point games with
Nick getting a goal and
two assists and
Martin setting up
three goals. Chris Sawchuk,
Will Omar, and
Jason Petelski finished
with two points apiece.
Will and
Jason both got a pair
of helpers while Chris
picked up one of each, including a short handed goal.
Brett Beadle added an
assist and goalie Nate Kazimir
deflected 10 shots on the night for the team's fifth straight
win.
Captain
Spencer Wood was the
player of the game for the Gorillas as he led his team with a
goal and an assist for a big two point night.
Josh Dierksen got two
points as well with one of each.
Brock Anderson and
James Emery scored the
other two Gorilla goals while
Clint Graville and
Sam Borhot each contributed
an assist. Goaltender
James Ong made a total of 20
saves including stopping all 14 shots aimed his way in the third

Tuesday, November 14th
The
Potters
were defeated by the Ice Storm
6-3.
Chad Cox finished with two big
points picking up an assist in the first and a goal in the
third.

Greg Bergeron each
contributed an assist. Goalie
Chris Smishek turned
aside a total of 20 shots.
Patrick Lauzon led the
Ice Storm with a three point player of the game performance
scoring the game winning goal and assisting on the two insurance
goals after that.
Will Omar had a great night
with a pair of goals to start things off for the Ice Storm.

Blues on Wednesday, November 8th
The
Ice Storm won 7-1 against the
Blues. Goaltender
Nate Kazimir was the
player of the game for the second consecutive week for the Ice
Storm deflecting 23 of the 24 shots fired his way for a
fantastic .958 save percentage.
Reilly Smith led the Ice
Storm firepower with an awesome four point game netting a pair
of goals and assists.
Chris Sawchuk had a
great two goal game as well scoring in each of the last two
periods.
Jason Petelski,
Patrick Lauzon, and
Dallas Blommaert all
finished with big two point games scoring a goal and an assist
each. Both
Kevin Flynn and
Nick Oriold contributed a
pair of assists apiece.
Brett Beadle also added

Blues player of the game for his play in leading the team
throughout the night. Mike Johnson

The

Nate Kazimir was awesome
in leading his team to a 5-3 victory against the
Shamrocks making a total of 30 saves
including 14 in the second period alone.

Reilly Smith led the Ice
Storm offence with three and two point games respectively.
Brett scored the game
winning goal late in the second period to go along with two
assists while
Reilly scored in the
second frame as well and set up another in the first.

Rush Roofing Rockets
vs. Ice Storm on Wednesday, October 25th

Down 4-1 in the third period,
Steve Brandon, the
Rush Roofing Rockets player of the game for the third
straight match nearly willed the Rockets to the win by scoring
an astonishing natural hat trick within just a 3:17 span tying
the game at 4-4 by the 6:09 mark of the final frame. The
Ice Storm player of the game
Patrick Lauzon
responded by scoring an amazing natural hat trick of his own in
just 3:56 to lead his team to an 8-4 win over the Rockets.
Steve Brandon also
contributed an assist in addition to his natural hat trick to
finish with an awesome four points.
Patrick Lauzon scored a
goal and an assist earlier in the game and ended the night with
an incredible total of five points.
Mike also scored for the Rockets
while
Jordan Pinkster,
Jason Upton,
Scott Bouwman,
Cody Feenstra,
Chaynne Klatt, and
Tom Upton all picked up
assists. Goalie
Phil Bonk made 12 saves in
the first, 13 saves in the second, and 11 saves in the third to

Shockers vs. Ice Storm
on Tuesday, October 17th
The
Shockers overcame the
Ice Storm in the battle of the last
two undefeated teams. Player of the game, goalie
Scott Ellard, was
excellent in backstopping the Shockers to a 3-0 win turning
aside all 23 shots for the shutout.
Curtis Foss led the
Shocker offence with two points including the game winner at the
5:12 mark of the first period and an assist in the second.
Tim Robinson and
Shawn Frank also scored a
goal apiece.
Adam Giesbrecht
notched his team leading fourth and fifth point of the season
with a pair of assists.
Shawn Kraft and
Eric Tang each picked up a
point getting the assists on the game winning goal.
Number eight,
Dallas Blommaert, was
the player of the game for the
Ice Storm leading the team with his
play throughout the night. Ice Storm goalie

Ice Storm vs. Reapers
on Monday, October 9th
The Ice Storm defeated
the Reapers by the score of 5-3. The player of the game for the
Ice Storm,
Reilly Smith, had an
excellent three point night scoring the game winning goal midway
through the second period and added one more, an unassisted
goal, before the end of the frame.
Brett Watts also had a
great night with his second consecutive four point game, two
goals and two assists, to start the season with five goals and
three assists in only two games.
Martin Robichaud also
scored late in the first period and
Chris Sawchuk had a big
two point night with a pair of assists.
Kyle Myden and Nick Oriold
each added an assist. Goalie
Nate Kazimir was superb
in stopping 34 of the 37 shots fired his way to finish with a
sparkling .919 save percentage.
Scott Kazmerik, the
Reapers player of the game, led the Reaper's offence with a
great three point effort assisting on the first and third goals
and scoring an early second period goal to reduce their deficit
to one goal.
Steve Dand added a goal to
temporarily tie the game at three apiece halfway in the second
period. Defending scoring champion,
Domenic Niro, opened the scoring with a goal just 3:50 into
the first period. The defending Top Goalie Trophy winner
Tyler Corrigall was
great once again as he made 19 saves in the first, 13 in the
second, and 14 in the third for a colossal total of 46 saves on
51 shots. Brian Jennings
and
Daniel Straeten each
picked up an assist.

The Ice Storm won 12-0
against the Gorillas. Nate Kazimir turned away all 15 shots for
the shutout. Kyle Myden and Brett Watts both had huge nights for
the Ice Storm with five and four points respectively. Kyle
scored twice and had three assists while Brett scored a hat
trick and had one assist. Reilly smith also had a big night with
a goal and an assist.
The Gorillas
goaltender Gregg Nordin made 27 saves on the night including a
big first period with 12 saves to keep the game within reach. |
