Division II Playoffs:
Blues vs.
Reapers on Monday, May 7th
The Blues
were up against the defending CAHL Cup Champions, the Reapers,
in the first round of the playoffs. Reaper
Joe Nitychoruk opened
the scoring midway through the first period on a goal assisted
by
Brian Jennings to give
his team the 1-0 lead. Even though the Reapers were out shot
17-6, it turned out to be the only goal of the period, due to
Tyler Corrigall's
exceptional play between the pipes.
Tyler Corrigall, last
season's CAHL Top Goalie Trophy winner and CAHL Playoff MVP
Trophy winner, started off with three big saves in just the
first 44 seconds of the game. He continued thwarting off the
Blues flurry of chances including a huge glove save from a short
range shot.
The Blues goaltender,
Josh Wildey, started off the
second period with a bang as he made a massive glove grab on a
point blank chance to keep his team within one.
Jorden VanCamp of the
Blues scored at the 10:56 mark on a big shot which
Tyler Corrigall had a
piece of it with his blocker but still managed to find it's way
into the netting. Chad Bolger
assisted on the goal. Jamie Sexton
scored for the Blues just 39 seconds later to give his team a
2-1 lead with
Joe Reynolds contributing
the assist on the play.
Later in the middle period, the Blues top scorer
Jamie Sexton had a great
chance on a breakaway as he cut in from the side but was denied
by Tyler Corrigall. The
Blues second top scorer
Kevin Baragon had an
excellent chance as well as he went in all alone and made a
great forehand to back hand "one hand on stick" drag deke but
was stoned by
Tyler Corrigall who
read the play perfectly.
Corrigall continued
making memorable stops especially his save on a point bank shot
with his right pad and an incredible catcher save on yet another
short range shot.
The second period
featured great defensive plays as well such as when the Reapers
Brian Jennings made a
awesome diving poke check to stop a potentially huge scoring
chance for the Blues. The Blues
Chad Bolger made a number of
key stick checks to stop the incoming threats from the Reapers.
After two periods the
score was 2-1 and the shots were 34-13, both in the Blues favor.
The two teams traded a few scoring chances in the third but
there were no more goals scored until the final minute of play
when the Reapers pulled their goalie in favor of a sixth
attacker for one final surge. However, it was the Blues who
scored.
Chris Martyniuk notched a
shorthanded empty net insurance goal which was assisted by
Alex Smith with just 0:51
showing on the score clock. The Blues went on to win
3-1 and will await the winner
of the other semi-final game, between the Rockets and Gorillas,
for the CAHL Cup Championship on Tuesday, May 15th.
Tyler Corrigall was the
player of the game for the Reapers as he made many outstanding
saves and stopped 40 of the 42 shots aimed his way for an
incredible .952 save percentage. The Blues player of the game,
Josh Wildey, was great for
his team as he stopped everything except for one to finish with
17 saves on 18 shots for an awesome .944 save percentage.

Ice Storm vs.
Reapers on Tuesday, May 1st
On Tuesday night, the
Ice Storm lost to the Reapers
by the score of 11-3. Ice
Storm player of the game goaltender
Shaughn McAuliffe
made a big glove stop on a breakaway in the second period and an
even better awesome glove grab on a two man breakaway in the
third frame. Brian Sawchuk and
Patrick Lauzon each
scored a goal an assist for two big points apiece.
Brett Watts also had a two
point effort as he set up a pair of goals.
Chris Sawchuk opened the
scoring for the Ice Storm with a goal late in the first period
and
Martin Bownes
contributed an assist on the night.
Goaltender
Tyler Corrigall was the
player of the game for the Reapers as he stopped 36 of the 39
shots aimed his way for an excellent .923 save percentage.
During a flurry of chances around his crease in the third period
Corrigall deflected a
point blank shot with his glove and followed up the rebound with
a tremendous catcher save on yet another point blank shot.
Jamie Ryan,
Daniel Wallace,
Domenic Niro, and
Joe Nitychoruk combined
for a total of 20 points for the Reapers with each player
notching huge five point efforts.
Jamie Ryan sped past two
defenders in the first period to score an excellent breakaway
goal and the first of his three goals for the great hat trick,
two assist, five point night.
Daniel Wallace scored
his second straight hat trick and now has six goals and two
assists in just his last two games. Captain
Domenic Niro notched a pair of goals and three big assists
while
Joe Nitychoruk scored
one goal and had four great assists.
Steve Dand and goalie
Tyler Corrigall each
contributed an assist in the win.

Blues vs.
Reapers on Thursday, April 26th
The
Blues were defeated by the Reapers
5-3 on Thursday. Team leading scorer
Jamie Sexton was the Blues
player of the game as he scored one goal and generated numerous
scoring chances throughout the match.
Joe Reynolds and
Raja Bhattacharyya
also scored while
Kevin Baragon set up
Jamie's goal. Goalie
Josh Wildey made some great
stops such as his excellent breakaway save early in the third
period which was followed up by a awesome blocker save on yet
another breakaway with just less than four minutes to go to keep
his team in the game.
Josh would add one more huge
save before the match ended as he stoned the Reapers on a point
blank one timed shot.
Number 60
Daniel Wallace fired in
three straight goals including the game winner for an
outstanding hat trick player of the game performance for the
Reapers.
Daniel also nearly had a
fourth goal if it were not for Josh Wildey's
huge blocker save on his top corner shot during a breakaway in
the final period. Two-time Top Scorer Trophy winner and MVP
Trophy winner, captain
Domenic Niro, had a big two point game with a goal and an
assist.
Joe Nitychoruk notched
two points as well scoring the Reapers first goal and assisting
on
Daniel's hat trick goal.
Team top scorer
Scott Kazmerik
contributed an assist. Goaltender
Tyler Corrigall is
already in his Playoff MVP Trophy winning form as he is just one
game from the playoffs and keeping his team on the winning side
of the score with great saves.
Tyler made an
incredible split save on a point blank shot late in the
game and added another huge close range stop which was followed
by a big glove grab just seconds later.

Reapers vs.
Shamrocks on Wednesday, April 18th
The
Reapers were defeated 8-4 by the
Shamrocks on Wednesday night.
Reapers top scorer and player of the game
Scott Kazmerik was in on
every one of his team's goal as he assisted on three and scored
once to finish with an excellent four point match.
Joe Nitychoruk,
Terry Williston, and
Steve Dand all fired in
goals on the night while captain
Domenic Niro and
Daniel Wallace each
contributed an assist. Last season's CAHL Top Goalie Trophy and
CAHL Playoff MVP Trophy winner,
Tyler Corrigall,
finished with numerous big stops as he averaged 12 saves per
period and turned away a total of 36 pucks.
Defenceman
Kevin Hamm was the
Shamrocks player of the game scoring twice to go along with an
assist for a great three point effort.
Cody Hull and
Geoff Zimmerman each
rifled in a pair of pucks as well in addition to one assist from
Cody Hull and two assists
from
Geoff Zimmerman.
Josh Hamill and BJ Arnold
both scored a goal and an assist for good two point nights.
John Fisher had three big
assists while
Brent Wandler
contributed one. Goaltender
Ryan Steel made 16 stops
for the victory.

Reapers on Tuesday, April 10th
The
Shockers defeated the
Reapers 17-7 on Tuesday night. A massive combined total of
34 points were collected by just seven Shocker players:
Daniel Swyripa,
Riley Haugen,
Andrew Knouse,
Cody Miller,
Tim Robinson,
Brett Borgland, and
Matt Patterson.
Daniel Swyripa had an
extraordinary total of nine points on the strength of a "double
hat trick" six goal night plus three assists.
Riley Haugen and
Tim Robinson both had hat
tricks as well with
Riley scoring three goals
and three assists while
Tim fired in three pucks
and added one assist.
Andrew Knouse finished
with five points on the strength of two goals and three assists.
Cody Miller had a pair of

in one goal and set up two others while

contributed a helper as well.
Goaltender Bruce Rice
was the player of the game for the Reapers as he finished with a
total of 30 saves which included a number of great stops
throughout the game.

Reapers lost to the
Shamrocks 11-5.
Jamie Ryan was the player of
the game for the Reapers with a big two point night scoring a
goal and an assist. Reaper captain
Domenic Niro also had a two point night netting a goal and
set up another.
Terry Williston,
Daniel Wallace, and
Steve Dand provided the
other three goals and
Drew Morin added an assist.
Taylor made some great saves and a total of 39 stops.
Shamrock captain
Geoff Zimmerman
rifled in his 68th to 71st goals of the season and finished the
night with a top notch player of the game four goal and three
assist effort. BJ Arnold and
Kevin Hamm combined for a
total of nine points. BJ Arnold scored two goals while
Kevin Hamm fired in one
plus both players had three assists apiece.

McPherson all had good two point nights as each player scored a

Gorillas on Tuesday, March 27th
The
Reapers won 10-8 versus the
Gorillas on Tuesday night.
Ryan Kazmerik took charge
of the Reaper offence with an outstanding hat trick, two assist,
five point player of the game performance.
Scott Kazmerik and
Domenic Niro had excellent
four point nights with
Scott scoring two goals
and two assists while
Domenic notched one goal
and three assists. Number nine
Daniel Straeten scored
a goal late in the second period.
Daniel Wallace and
Steve Dand each had a pair
of assists. Goalie
Jeff Storey made 11 saves in the match including some nice
stops.
The Gorillas player of the game,
Keith Evans, led the way
for his team with a great hat trick.

Number nine of the Blues,
Chad Bolger, scored with just
5:55 remaining in the third period to even the score at 2-2
against the Reapers. It turned out to
be the final goal of the game and both teams took home a point.
Blues top scorer and
player of the game, Jamie Sexton,
scored the lone first period goal which gave his team a 1-0 lead
headed into the second frame.
Raja Bhattacharyya and
Jorden VanCamp were the
setup men with each player netting an assist. Goalie
Josh Wildey stopped 24 of the
26 pucks fired his way for an awesome .923 save percentage.
Brian Jennings scored a
goal and had a big player of the game performance for the
Reapers. Steve Dand launched
in his second special teams goal of the season getting a
shorthanded goal at the 9:23 mark of the second period.

contributed an assist. Goaltender
Tyler Corrigall
finished with 17 saves and has stopped over 90% of the shots
aimed his way for the entire month of March.
Tyler has turned aside
122 of the 135 shots he faced so far this month for an
incredible .904 save percentage over that span. The Reapers have
a 4-0-1 record in March.

against the
Gorillas.

alone to give his team a comeback chance.

After being down 2-0 the Reapers scored five unanswered goals
for their third straight win. Goaltender

won their second game in as many nights, this time a 3-2 win
over the
Rockets. Two-time Top Scorer Trophy

two goals including the game winner and now has had four points
in just his last two games. The duo of
Scott Kazmerik and
Ryan Kazmerik notched a
total of four points with
Scott getting a goal and
an assist while
Ryan got two assists.

aside 18 shots including some big stops for his second straight
victory.

The
Reapers won 6-3 versus the Gorillas
on Tuesday night. Amazing is the only word to describe the
Reapers player of the game

scored five goals and provided 83% of his team's offence.

contributed a pair of assists.

including a couple of awesome glove saves in the third period to
keep his team in the game.

Shockers vs. Reapers
on Wednesday, February 20th
The game was tied 4-4
late in the third period between the
Shockers and the
Reapers when Shockers leading scorer
Tim Robinson fired in a
short handed goal with just 0:51 left on the clock. The Shockers
held on for the final 51 seconds for the exciting victory.
The Shockers player of
the game Tim Robinson
scored late in the second period as well to finish the night
with two goals.
Cody Miller also scored a
pair of goals for the Shockers and captain
Brett Borgland scored
his 13th of the season tying him for third most goals on the
team. Goalie John Steel made a number of great saves and stopped
29 of the 33 shots aimed his way for the win.

scored as well netting a pair of goals.

three games after winning 7-3 against the Blues

his team's lead from 5-3 to 7-3.

team leading 30th point of the season with a big three assist
night.

Reapers took a 4-3 lead just two minutes and 11 seconds earlier.

Brett Watts also scored

Blake Mihalic,
Patrick Lauzon, and
Mike Rowbotham each
added an assist.
Nick Oriold picked up a
helper to go with his goal for a two point night. Goaltender
Nate Kazimir was the
player of the game for the Ice Storm with a total of 27 saves
including 15 in the first period alone.
Scott Kazmerik led the
Reapers offensively with a two goal game.
Ryan Kazmerik and
Jamie Ryan also scored with
Jamie Ryan adding an assist
as well to finish with two points.

really came through for the Reapers in the second period when he

Rush Roofing Rockets are 5-3-0 after winning against the
Reapers
8-4. Number 36
Steve Brandon led the
Rockets once again for the sixth time this season with another
player of the game performance firing in a hat trick and an
assist for an awesome four point night.
Mike Parton scored the game
winner for the Rockets at 10:33 of the second period and
contributed a pair of assists as well.
Scott Bouwman got the
assist on
Mike's game winner and also
opened the scoring just 47 seconds into the game. Rockets
president and general manager Jason Upton,
last season's number two team scorer
Chaynne Klatt, and number
15 Steven Havinga all
had big two point games with Steven
getting two assists while Jason
and Chaynne each had a
goal and an assist.
Cody Feenstra scored a
goal early in the third frame and

was great as he made 32 saves on the night including stopping
all 15 shots in the third period to preserve the lead for the

Ryan Kazmerik had a big
night as well with two assists. Captain
Domenic Niro fired in his eighth of the season while both

Daniel Wallace each
contributed an assist. Goalie
Tyler Corrigall made 40
saves on the night and has faced an average of 1.02 shots per
minute this season with a total of 301 shots rifled his way in
just 294 minutes played.
Captain
Geoff Zimmerman was
player of the game for the Shamrocks for the fifth time scoring
his fifth hat trick of the season.
Geoff scored twice
within a 10 second span in the first period and got a goal and
an assist in the second for a great total of four points.
Kent Gillings was also
outstanding with one goal and four assists in the game.
Dale Lewko,
Josh Hamill, and
Cody Hull all had great
three point nights with Dale
scoring a pair of goals and an assist, while
Josh and
Cody both got one goal and
two assists.

The Landex Shockers are a perfect 6-0
after defeating the
Reapers by the score of 4-2. Goalie
Scott Ellard was the
player of the game for the Shockers for the third time this
season finishing with a total of 16 saves including a number of
great stops such as his incredible save on a point blank one
timer early in the third period to keep the two goal lead.
Captain
Brett Borgland,
Daniel Swyripa, and
Sean Frank all had big two
point games scoring a goal and an assist each.
Sean scored the game winner
at the 10:07 mark of the first.
Andrew Knouse
contributed a goal as well while
Matt Patterson and
Shawn Kraft picked up an
assist apiece. The Shockers finished the match with zero
penalties.
Defending Playoff MVP Trophy and Top Goalie Trophy winner
Tyler Corrigall had
another player of the game performance for the Reapers making a
total of 39 saves on the night.
Tyler turned aside 28
shots through the first two periods alone including some top
flight glove saves and an awesome pad stack stop kicking the
puck high into the air.
Scott Kazmerik scored
his seventh of the season on a breakaway late in the first
frame. Daniel Wallace
fired in a goal on a nice centering feed from
Joe Nitychoruk with just
19 seconds left in the second to make it a 2-4 game.

The Potters opened up week five of the
season with a 10-6 Monday night win versus the
Reapers.
Chad Cox, the Potters player
of the game, led all scorers with an incredible five point night
scoring a pair of goals and a trio of assists.
Kirk Ringuette,
Brandon Gramlich,
Ian Wagner, and
Jeff Bourassa all had
great three point games. Both
Kirk and
Brandon got two goals
and one assist while
Ian and
Jeff each had a goal and
two assists. Jason Villeneuve,
Greg Bergeron and
Ryan Shand also had solid
games with two points apiece.
Jason and
Greg both finished with a
goal and a helper and
Ryan set up two goals.
Dustyn Auramenko added
an assist. Goaltender
Chris Smishek turned
aside 25 shots on the night.
Reapers Captain and player of the game,
Domenic Niro, fired in a
pair of goals becoming the first player in the CAHL to hit the
60 goal mark with his 60th and 61st career goals in only his
48th game.
Daniel Straeten and
Scott Kazmerik both had
big two point games with Daniel
netting two goals, including a power play marker, and
Scott getting one of
each, a goal and an assist.
Peter Donahoe,
Joe Nitychoruk, and
Jamie Ryan all contributed
an assist apiece.
Tyler Corrigall was
huge in net completing the game with an awesome 44 saves while
facing an average of 1.3 shots per minute over the three periods
starting with 19 shots in the first, 23 in the second, and 12
more in the third.

Gorillas on Tuesday, October 24th

The
Reapers tied the
Gorillas 5-5.
Scott Kazmerik, the
player of the game for the Reapers had an excellent night
scoring a hat trick including a short handed goal in the second
period.
Peter Donahoe also fired
in a shorthanded marker later in the same frame.
Ryan Kazmerik had a big
two point game with two assists.
Brian Jennings scored a
goal and
Domenic Niro added a helper. Goalie
Tyler Corrigall
deflected 18 shots in the match.
The Gorillas goalie and player of the game
Gregg Nordin was
outstanding as he stopped all 16 shots from the Reapers in the
third period to allow the Gorillas to come back from a two goal
deficit and tie the game 5-5. Gregg
finished the game with a total of 33 saves.
Cory Benjamin
rifled in two
goals including the game tying goal with just 3:07 left in the
game.
Spencer Wood led all
scorers with a great three point night scoring once to go along
with a pair of assists. Both
Josh Dierksen and
Brock Anderson had big
two point efforts scoring a goal and an assist apiece.
Cam Fuller also finished
with a good two point game picking up a couple of assists.

Blues vs.
Reapers on Wednesday, October 18th

The
Blues were defeated by the
Reapers 5-2. Blues goaltender and
player of the game,
Josh Wildey, stopped all 10
shots aimed his way in the first period and finished with 21
saves including some big stops throughout the night.
Kevin Baragon and
Jamie Sexton provided the
firepower for the Blues with each netting a goal in the first
frame to give the Blues a 2-0 lead to start the second period.
Joe Reynolds assisted on the
opening goal by Kevin.
Goalie Tyler Corrigall
was the player of the game for the Reapers as he deflected 30 of
the 32 shots launched his way, including all 15 shots in the
second and all seven in the third, for an awesome .938 save
percentage. Down 2-0 late in the second period,
Peter Donahoe started the
comeback for the Reapers by scoring a shorthanded goal with 4:09
left to go in the frame. Captain
Domenic Niro scored another shorthanded goal 35 seconds
later and
Jamie Ryan added one more
short hander, and what turned out to be the game winning goal,
one minute and 51 seconds after that.
Domenic Niro rifled in one more in the third to complete a
great two goal game.
Joe Nitychoruk also
scored a goal and
Brian Jennings and
Daniel Wallace each
contributed an assist. Peter Donahoe
added one more assist to cap off a big two point night and
Scott Kazmerik also had
a good two point game with a pair of assists.

Ice Storm vs. Reapers on
Monday, October 9th

The Ice Storm defeated
the Reapers by the score of 5-3. The player of the game for the
Ice Storm,
Reilly Smith, had an
excellent three point night scoring the game winning goal midway
through the second period and added one more, an unassisted
goal, before the end of the frame.
Brett Watts also had a
great night with his second consecutive four point game, two
goals and two assists, to start the season with five goals and
three assists in only two games.
Martin Robichaud also
scored late in the first period and
Chris Sawchuk had a big
two point night with a pair of assists.
Kyle Myden and Nick Oriold
each added an assist. Goalie
Nate Kazimir was superb
in stopping 34 of the 37 shots fired his way to finish with a
sparkling .919 save percentage.
Scott Kazmerik, the
Reapers player of the game, led the Reaper's offence with a
great three point effort assisting on the first and third goals
and scoring an early second period goal to reduce their deficit
to one goal.
Steve Dand added a goal to
temporarily tie the game at three apiece halfway in the second
period. Defending scoring champion,
Domenic Niro, opened the scoring with a goal just 3:50 into
the first period. The defending Top Goalie Trophy winner
Tyler Corrigall was
great once again as he made 19 saves in the first, 13 in the
second, and 14 in the third for a colossal total of 46 saves on
51 shots. Brian Jennings
and
Daniel Straeten each
picked up an assist.

Rush Roofing Rockets vs. the
Reapers on Wednesday, October 4th

It was the first game
between the two teams since they last faced off in the 2005-2006
CAHL Cup Championship and the Rush Roofing Rockets kicked off
their season with a victory defeating the Reapers 6-4. The
Rockets player of the game Scott Bouwman led the way with an
amazing five point performance scoring four goals, including a
short hander, and an assist. Steve Brandon and Kurt Bransma both
had big nights with two points apiece. Scott Bergen scored the
game winning goal with just over five minutes left in the second
period. Phil Bonk turned aside 17 shots and stopped all of the
shots aimed his way in the first and third periods.
The Reapers player of
the game Tyler Corrigall, last season's Playoff MVP Trophy and
Top Goalie Trophy winner, made 41 saves including stopping 20 of
the 21 shots he faced in the third period for an incredible .952
save percentage. Two-time Top Scorer Trophy winner and last
season's MVP Trophy winner, Domenic Niro, led the way
offensively for the Reapers with a pair of goals. |
