2007 CAHL Cup
Champion Pylons

The
Pylons are the 2007 CAHL Cup Champions
as they defeated the
Cyclones
6-2 and the other contenders
in the Weekend Division,
Hazards
and Rug
Doctors, both lost by default due to an insufficient number of
players.
Pylons captain Brian Abildgaard
powered his team to the victory and was awarded the CAHL 2007
Playoff MVP Trophy for his incredible hat trick, five point
performance.
Russ Bechtold notched an
outstanding five points as well with four assists and a goal
early in the final frame.
Keegan Donovan also had a
great match for the Pylons as he scored a pair of goals and
assists which included a breakaway goal with just five seconds
left in the contest. Team mate
Tom Sparks contributed an
assist as well.
Between the pipes, the
CAHL 2006-2007 Top Goalie Trophy winner
Martin Gregoire was
awesome and denied 19 of the 21 shots fired his way for a top
flight .905 save percentage.
Davin Johnsrud
opened the scoring
with a huge breakaway goal midway through the first period for
the Cyclones. Defenceman
Mike Wroblewsky hit
the back of the net late in the middle period to cut the deficit
to one goal and change the score from 3-1 to 3-2 at the time.
Cyclone
Mark De Souza had a great
night as he set up both scores to finish with two points.
Paul Chateau assisted on
Mike Wroblewsky's
goal.

2007 CAHL Cup Champion and Gold Medal winner
Brian Abildgaard capped
off a brilliant regular season with an even better postseason as
he led all players in scoring with an outstanding hat trick,
five point performance in the CAHL Cup winning game and was
awarded the CAHL 2007 Playoff MVP Trophy.

Gladiators on Friday, August 24

Player of the game
Brendan Waters and
Brian Abildgaard had
three points apiece to energize the Pylons
to a win against the
Gladiators.
Pylon David Hughes
contributed a couple of points while
Keegan Donovan and
Russ Bechtold each notched
one point.
Goalie
Martin Gregoire turned
back 30 of 31 shots for an awesome .968 save percentage for the
Pylons.
Nazieh Hammoud was
the player of the game for the Gladiator as he scored late in
the opening period.
Samir Abdallah and
Sam Fares picked up the
assists.
The Gladiators goalie
Lino Martino made some
big saves and turned away a total of 20 pucks on the night.

Cyclones on Friday, August 3

trio was in on every goal and combined for a total of 13 points.
The Pylons player of
the game Brendan Waters
scored a hat trick and two assists for a superb five point
night.
Russ Bechtold accounted
for a pair of goals and assists for an excellent total of four
points.
Brian Abildgaard had a
great four point match as well with four assists.
Keith Hughes also
contributed an assist for the Pylons.
The CAHL 2006-2007 Top Goalie Trophy winner
Martin Gregoire made a
terrific glove save on a breakaway opportunity early in the game
and had a super first period as he knocked down 18 of the 19
shots aimed his way.
Gregoire finished with a
total of 42 stops in the game.
Joel Nedohin of the
Cyclones had a big two point night to
move into a three way tie for the team scoring lead with
Jeremy Kander and
Davin Johnsrud. However
Nedohin holds the tie
breaker as he has the most goals of the trio.
Cyclones defenceman
Mark De Souza scored
midway through the second period to reduce the Pylons lead from
3-1 to 3-2 and helped turn the tide into an eventual
6-5 victory for the
Cyclones.

Pylons vs.
Extreme on Friday, July 27
The
Extreme extended their undefeated streak to eight games with
a 8-4 win against the
Pylons.
David Shierman led the
way for the Extreme with a six point player of the game showing.
Team mates
Matt Brodie and
Danny James tallied three
points apiece while
Todd Bassen and
Isaac Reid each notched a
pair of points.
Kris Pickering also
scored.
Goaltender
Ian Brunton kept out 19
pucks for the Extreme.
Martin Gregoire was the
Pylons player of the game as he made 30 saves which included
some great stops to thwart the dangerous Extreme scorers.
Keegan Donovan and
Andrew Abildgaard hit
the back of the net for the Pylons with
Brian Abildgaard
Kieth Hughes contributing
assists.

Pylons vs.
Hazards on Friday, July 20
The
Pylons player of the game Kevin Donovan
provided the bulk of their offence against the
Hazards
with a big pair of goals. Russ Bechtold
also scored for the Pylons while Keegan Donovan
and
Tom Sparks each contributed
an assist.
Pylons goaltender
Brian Abildgaard
stopped 28 pucks which included some nice saves through the
three periods.
Mitch Chicoine was
sensational as he scored five times and assisted two of his team
mates for a seven point player of the game effort to lead
Hazards to the victory.
Fellow Hazard
Andrew Arnold fired in an
awesome natural hat trick and also an assist for a total of four
points. The top team scorer
Josh Horning was brilliant
as he notched pair of goals and assists.
Tim Barnes scored a goal and
an assist for the Hazards while
Greg Bates also fired in a
puck at the 8:16 mark of the third period.
Ryan Carey had a big three
assist night. Steve Runcie
also contributed an assist in the match.
Hazards goalie
Warner Johnston made
some big stops as he blocked a total of 15 pucks through the
three periods to pick up his third straight win.

Pylons vs.
Gladiators on Friday, July 13
Pylons goaltender
David Hughes made a great
save on a one timed point blank shot in the final two minutes of
the game as the
Gladiators pulled their goalie for
an extra attacker for one final surge.
David Hughes was the Pylons
player of the game and turned aside a total of 20 shots in the
match for the 6-3 victory on
Friday.
Kevin Donovan and
Brendan Waters each
scored twice for the Pylons while team mates
Jim Madden and
Andrew Abildgaard
fired in a goal apiece.
Jim Madden also had an assist
for a two point effort.
The Pylons all-star
captain Brian Abildgaard
notched two points as well with a couple of assists. Fellow
Pylons
Russ Bechtold and
Kieth Hughes each
contributed an assist on the night.
Nazieh Hammoud rifled
in a goal and was strong throughout the three periods to finish
with the player of the game honours for the Gladiators.
The team top scorer
Zine Hussein and point
per game player
Hadi Fares scored the
other two goals for the Gladiators.
Adel Fares,
Sid Abdallah, and
Dylan Wiebe all
collected an assist in the match.
Gladiators goalie Hadi Hammoud
made an awesome breakaway stop in the third period and finished
with 26 saves.

Pylons vs.
Blades of Steel on Friday, July 6
Graeme Kozin led his
Blades of Steel to a Friday
evening win over the Pylons as he
topped all players with a fantastic five point player of the
game
performance.
Kozin scored the
game winning goal, contributed three assists, and fired in one
more goal in the final period before all was said and done.
Blades of Steel forwards
Sheldon Harris,
James Werner, and
Shawn Gallahger
were all on fire as well with four point nights.
Harris hit the
back of the net twice to go along with a couple of helpers while
Werner and
Gallahger each
scored one goal and three assists.
Dan Pietrzak
had a great three point night for the Blades of Steel while
Chris Hill rifled in a
pair of goals.
Shawn Henry,
Conrad Boychuk,
and
Andrew Smyth
contributed an assist apiece.
Blades of Steel
goalie
Jennifer Lynn
Hanby contributed an assist, won her fourth game in five
starts, and also maintained her top three overall position
among goals against
average leaders.
Kevin Donovan was the
Pylons player of the game as he finished with a great three
point effort with one goal and a pair of assists.
Jim Madden and
Brendan Waters scored two
goals apiece for the Pylons. Team mate
Dan Wahl had a couple of
assists while
Shawn Bellingham
collected one helper.
Pylons goaltender
David Hughes was already
down along the ice and still managed to make a colossal glove
grab with his outstretched arm on a point blank shot during the
first period.
Hughes also had an assist
on
Kevin Donovan's goal.

Pylons vs. Rug
Doctors on Friday, June 29
The
Pylons
narrowly defeated in the Rug
Doctors in a close 3-2 battle on
Friday night.
Brian Abildgaard was
the Pylons player of the game as he fired in two goals which
included the game winner.
Russ Bechtold also scored
for the Pylons with a goal less than three minutes into the
second period.
Garhett
Piechotta
had a two point night
with a goal and an assist to finish with the player of the game
honours for the Rug Doctors. Team mate
Ross Peak scored as well
while Dennis Kim contributed an assist.
Both goalies were
fantastic as they each stopped over 91% of the shots. The Pylons
goalie David Hughes stopped
23 of the 25 pucks aimed his way for a .920 save percentage
while the Rug Doctors goalie Jason Wist turned aside 31 of 34
shots for a .912 save percentage.

Pylons vs.
Snipers on Friday, June 22

The
Snipers possessed a 4-3 lead over the Pylons
with less than three minutes to go when Pylon
Brendan Waters scored a
colossal power play goal to tie the game with just 2:12 showing
on the score clock.
It turned out to be
the final goal of the game and both teams went home with a
4-4 tie.
Keegan Donovan led the
Pylons with an awesome four point player of the game performance
scoring a hat trick and assisting on the late game tying power
play marker.
Shawn Bellingham also
contributed an assist on the tying goal while
Brian Abildgaard
assisted on Donovan's
second goal of the match.
Pylons goalie
Martin Gregoire stopped
23 shots including a big save on a great short range chance on
his left side in the first period.
Jamie Sexton was the
Snipers player of the game as he scored a pair of goals.
Sexton fired in first goal
of the game on a breakaway which was set up from a big pass by
Pat Smith.
Smith also rifled in a goal
of his own later in the game as well to finish with two big
points.
Sniper
Campbell
Dansereau scored early in the middle period to give his team
a 3-2 lead at the time.
Andrew Banister and
Jeremy Rogers each
notched an assist on the night.
Snipers goaltender
Josh Wildey came up with
some big stops such as when he slid across his crease from right
to left to deny a close in one timer in the initial period.

Pylons vs.
Cyclones on Friday, June 15
Kevin Donovan was an
offensive force for the
Pylons as he scored four goals and
three assists in the Friday night victory against the
Cyclones.
Jim Madden fired in a great
hat trick for the Pylons as well. Pylons defenceman
Dan Wahl notched four points on
the night. Team mate James Verbeem collected three points while
Brian Abildgaard and
Russ Bechtold each
contributed two points. Goaltender
David Hughes started the
game by stopping all nine shots aimed his way in the first
period and continued from there towards the win.
Player of the game
Mike Wroblewsky and Jeremy Kander each rifled in a goal for the
Cyclones as
Mark De Souza and
Roy Canteras contributed the assists. Goalie Joe Leung finished
with some nice stops as he turned aside 25 shots on the night.

Hazards on Saturday, June 2

The
Pylons won
7-2 on Saturday night versus
the
Hazards.
Jim Madden was the player of the game for the Pylons as he led
all players with an awesome five point night on the strength of
one goal and four assists.
Brian Abildgaard
carried on his goal per game clip from last season as he fired
in a pair of goals and an assist for a great three point effort.
Andrew Abildgaard had
a big match as well as he notched one goal and set up a pair of
his team mates. Goalie
Martin Gregoire picked
up from where he left off last season as the CAHL Top Goalie
Trophy winner and made some big saves to start this season with
his usual 2.00 goals against average.
Goaltender
Mandy Runcie was the
player of the game for the Hazards as she made some huge stops
such as in the second period when she faced a breakaway deke
attempt and stoned the incoming threat as she swung out her
right pad to knock the puck harmlessly out of the way.
Dave Bates and
Tim Barnes provided the
firepower with each player notching a goal.
Steve Runcie contributed the sole assist on both goals.
