2007 CAHL Cup
Champion Pylons

The
Pylons are the 2007 CAHL Cup Champions
as they defeated the
Cyclones
6-2 and the other contenders
in the Weekend Division,
Hazards
and Rug
Doctors, both lost by default due to an insufficient number of
players.
Pylons captain Brian Abildgaard
powered his team to the victory and was awarded the CAHL 2007
Playoff MVP Trophy for his incredible hat trick, five point
performance.
Russ Bechtold notched an
outstanding five points as well with four assists and a goal
early in the final frame.
Keegan Donovan also had a
great match for the Pylons as he scored a pair of goals and
assists which included a breakaway goal with just five seconds
left in the contest. Team mate
Tom Sparks contributed an
assist as well.
Between the pipes, the
CAHL 2006-2007 Top Goalie Trophy winner
Martin Gregoire was
awesome and denied 19 of the 21 shots fired his way for a top
flight .905 save percentage.
Davin Johnsrud
opened the scoring
with a huge breakaway goal midway through the first period for
the Cyclones. Defenceman
Mike Wroblewsky hit
the back of the net late in the middle period to cut the deficit
to one goal and change the score from 3-1 to 3-2 at the time.
Cyclone
Mark De Souza had a great
night as he set up both scores to finish with two points.
Paul Chateau assisted on
Mike Wroblewsky's
goal.

Hazards vs.
Potters on Friday, August 24

Dave Maskwa led the
Potters to victory against the
Hazards
in their Friday contest with a dominant player of the game 10
point night which included a goal scored while taking the shot
from between his legs.
Potter
Brandon Gramlich
wasn't far behind with seven points.
Scott Roy,
Kevin Demyon, and
Brendan Engdahl all had
six points.
Tyler Bohn notched five
points while
Dustyn Auramenko and
Dave Madgua each
contributed a pair of points.
The Hazards goalie
Jeremy Johnson faced an immense number of scoring chances and
yet still came up with some big stops.
The Potters goalie Chris Smishek
turned aside some goal scoring opportunities for the win.

Hazards vs.
Cyclones on Friday, August 17
The
Hazards
player of the game Steve Runcie
had an outstanding performance as he racked up a five point
night with a hat trick and two assists to help pull his team to
a Friday night win against the
Cyclones.
Josh Horning was next in
line for the Hazards as he scored a pair of goals and assists
for an awesome total of four points.
Taylor MacDonald and
Jon Ohler both finished with great three point efforts.
Tim Barnes and
Ryan Carey each set up a
couple of goals while
Andrew Arnold hit the
back of the mesh once.
Warner Johnston was top
notch between the pipes as he turned aside 28 pucks for the
victory.
Number 11
Roy Canteras led the
Cyclone offence with two big goals.
Defenceman
Mike Wroblewsky had a
two point night as well and also made a great defensive play as
he deflected an otherwise dangerous short range slap shot
harmlessly over the glass and into the safety mesh.
Fellow Cyclones Jason Wood
and
Christine De Souza
fired in a goal apiece while Jeremy Kander
and
Carson Boyd each notched
an assist. Jeremy Kander's
point also regained his team lead in scoring.

Tornadoes vs.
Hazards on Friday, August 10
Josh Horning had a
commanding four goal player of the game display to boost the
Hazards
to a Friday night win against the Tornadoes.
Fellow Hazard J.R. Mitdital
was dangerous as well with his dominant speed and puck control
as he fired in a goal and an assist.
Greg Schamps and
Taylor MacDonald each
contributed a goal as well for the Hazards while
Tim Barnes collected an
assist.
The Hazards goalie Arnason
racked up 18 saves and made some top notch stops in the process.
The Tornadoes player of the game
Logan Dixon led his team
with a big two point showing as he scored goal and an assist.
Steve Rasmussen also
picked up an assist in the match.

Hazards vs.
Gladiators on Friday, August 3

Jesse Foster
advanced the
Hazards
to a victory against the
Gladiators with a fantastic five
goal and three assist player of the game performance.
Fellow Hazard Steve Runcie
had an excellent total of four points. Tim Adams and Angus
Macleod both notched three big points.
Greg Schamps had a solid
one goal and one assist effort.
Captain Greg Bates and
Taylor MacDonald each
contributed an assist.
Warner Johnston
continued his five game winning streak with a 22 save outing. A
couple of his best stops occurred late in the game when he
denied a huge one timed shot with his left pad and later stopped
a breakaway with a terrific glove grab.
Mike
Schiebelbein was the player of the game for the Gladiators
as he had a great three point night with one goal and a pair of
assists.
Gladiator team mate
Sam Fares had a strong
game as well with a goal and an assist.
Sam Fares was a threat
throughout the match with some big scoring chances only to be
thwarted by the Hazards goalie
Warner Johnston who
came up with some stellar stops.
Sid Abdallah also fired
in a goal and set up another for the Gladiators.
Joel Irwin hit the back
of the net during a power play early in the middle period.
Hadi Fares and
Adel Fares both notched
an assist.
The Gladiators
goaltender Steve Coady made some tremendous saves such as his
breakaway stop to start the final period and an even bigger save
on a two man breakaway chance with just over 23 seconds left in
the match.

Hazards vs.
Rug Doctors on Friday, July 27
The
Hazards
player of the game
Andrew Arnold,
Mike Greffen,
and Jesse Foster were
scintillating as the trio combined for a total of 19 points with
eight, six, and five points respectively.
Greg Bates also scored while
Josh Horning and
Greg Schamps contributed
an assist apiece to help the Hazards triumph over the
Rug
Doctors.
Hazards goaltender
Warner Johnston knocked
down 19 shots to maintain his perfect 4-0-0 record.
The Rug Doctors leading scorer
Cole Piechotta
was at his usual top performing best as he notched three points
to pick up the player of the game honours for his team.
Clark
Piechotta and
Ross Peak were strong for
the Rug Doctors as well as he player collected a pair of points.
Garhett
Piechotta also scored while
Mark Boulton tallied an
assist.
Rug Doctors goalie
Andy Leung denied 19
pucks which included some good saves through the three periods.

Hazards on Friday, July 20
The
Pylons player of the game Kevin Donovan
provided the bulk of their offence against the
Hazards
with a big pair of goals. Russ Bechtold
also scored for the Pylons while Keegan Donovan
and
Tom Sparks each contributed
an assist.
Pylons goaltender
Brian Abildgaard
stopped 28 pucks which included some nice saves through the
three periods.
Mitch Chicoine was
sensational as he scored five times and assisted two of his team
mates for a seven point player of the game effort to lead
Hazards to the victory.
Fellow Hazard
Andrew Arnold fired in an
awesome natural hat trick and also an assist for a total of four
points. The top team scorer
Josh Horning was brilliant
as he notched pair of goals and assists.
Tim Barnes scored a goal and
an assist for the Hazards while
Greg Bates also fired in a
puck at the 8:16 mark of the third period.
Ryan Carey had a big three
assist night. Steve Runcie
also contributed an assist in the match.
Hazards goalie
Warner Johnston made
some big stops as he blocked a total of 15 pucks through the
three periods to pick up his third straight win.

Hazards vs.
Blades of Steel on Friday, July 13
Player of the game
J.R. Mitdital was the
difference as he scored an awesome hat trick, which included the
game winning goal, for the
Hazards
on Friday in a 6-5 win
against the
Blades of Steel.
Josh Horning also had a
great three point game for the Hazards as he scored a goal and
two assists.
Steve Runcie and
Taylor MacDonald were
the other two goal scorer for the Hazards as they fired in a
goal apiece.
Hazards goalie
Warner Johnston won his
second straight start and made 20 saves which included stopping
10 out of 10 in the final period to preserve the one goal lead
for the victory.
The Blades of Steel player of the game
Jamie Doucette led
his team with a top notch two goal and one assist performance.
Graeme Kozin,
Chris Hill, and
Conrad Boychuk
also scored.
Chris Hill completed
the game with a pair of points as he picked up an assist as
well.
Blades of Steel
Captain
James Werner,
Andrew Smyth, and
Dan Pietrzak each
notched one assist.
Goalie Cam MacCorguodale
made some nice stops for the Blades of Steel as he turned aside
16 shots
on the night.

Snipers on Friday, July 6
J.R. Mitdital was the
player of the game for the
Hazards
as he fired in a hat trick and an assist to lead his team to
victory over the
Snipers.
Fellow Hazard
Josh Horning was great as
well as he scored four goals and an assist on the night.
Tim Barnes scored two big
goals for the Hazards while
Dave Bates,
Greg Schamps and
Mike Greffen each fired in a
goal apiece.
Hazards goalie Warner
Johnston made some nice stops as he turned aside 19 pucks for
the win.
Pat Smith captured the player
of the game honours for the Snipers with his excellent hat trick
and one assist effort. Team mate
Chris Bierwagon rifled
in a huge hat trick as well.
Sniper
Jeff Stevenson had a big
three point night with a goal and two helpers. The leading team
scorer
Jamie Sexton collected a
goal and an assist.
Jeremy Rogers also scored
while
Brent Howard contributed
an assist.
The Snipers goalie
Josh Wildey deflected a
total of 23 shots and made some big stops throughout the three
periods.

Rug Doctors on Friday, June 22
Josh Horning powered the
Hazards
to a Friday night victory against the Rug
Doctors with an incredible four goal game.
Mike Robertson and
Tim Barnes were awesome for
the Hazards as well.
Robertson had a six
point night and
Barnes notched a total of
five points.
Howard McKinnon
collected a
pair of assists
for the Hazards while team mates
Greg Schamps and
Mike Greffen each scored a
goal.
Hazards goalie
Greg Bates made some nice
stops for the win.
The Rug Doctors player of the game
Cole Piechotta had a
great two goal game. Sean Osis
contributed the assist on Piechotta's
second goal of the night.
Rug Doctors goaltender
Andy Leung finished with
some big saves among his total of 25 stops in the match.

Extreme on Friday, June 15
J.R. Mitdital led the
Hazards
with a great two goal player of the game effort in their loss to
the
Extreme. Fellow Hazard Steve Runcie
notched a pair of points too with a couple of assists while
Josh Horning rifled in a
goal during the second period.
Brad Kerr topped all
Extreme player with an incredible four goal and five assist
performance. Team mates Matt Brodie and Mark Romaniuk each had
six points while Todd Bassen and Isasc Reid both four points.
Extreme goaltender Ian Brunton completed the match with some
good stops for the win.

Pylons vs.
Hazards on Saturday, June 2

The
Pylons won
7-2 on Saturday night versus
the
Hazards.
Jim Madden was the player of the game for the Pylons as he led
all players with an awesome five point night on the strength of
one goal and four assists.
Brian Abildgaard
carried on his goal per game clip from last season as he fired
in a pair of goals and an assist for a great three point effort.
Andrew Abildgaard had
a big match as well as he notched one goal and set up a pair of
his team mates. Goalie
Martin Gregoire picked
up from where he left off last season as the CAHL Top Goalie
Trophy winner and made some big saves to start this season with
his usual 2.00 goals against average.
Goaltender
Mandy Runcie was the
player of the game for the Hazards as she made some huge stops
such as in the second period when she faced a breakaway deke
attempt and stoned the incoming threat as she swung out her
right pad to knock the puck harmlessly out of the way.
Dave Bates and
Tim Barnes provided the
firepower with each player notching a goal.
Steve Runcie contributed the sole assist on both goals.
