Weekend Division Playoffs:

Hazards vs. Jets on Friday, May 11th

It was the battle of the fifth and second place teams in the second playoff game of the night as the Hazards took on the Jets. Doug Ferguson got the Hazards on the scoreboard first, at the 8:53 mark of the opening period, with a laser beam of a shot, perfectly placed at the top corner over the blocker side. The Jets 1.41 points per game scorer, Denny Englehart, fired in a big wrist shot while his team was on the penalty kill to tie up the game at one apiece heading in the second period.

Hazards goaltender Kevin Feary made an incredible diving save while killing off a penalty in the second frame. Defenceman Tim Buchan eventually got a power play goal in for the Jets which turned out to be the first of two goals in the middle period. The Jets added one more as Trevor Nelson made a perfect cross ice pass to teammate Jeff Farncombe who then made a great backhand deke to score his team's third goal of the night, extending their lead to 3-1.

Denny Englehart scored his second goal of the match just 42 seconds into the third period to give his team a big 4-1 lead. The Hazards mounted a comeback attempt however Jets goaltender Geoff Hwang held his ground to keep the score at 4-1 until the final buzzer.

The Jets player of the game Denny Englehart finished the night with three great points on the strength of two goals and an assist. Kevin Feary was the Hazards player of the game as he deflected away 23 shots which included some huge saves such as his memorable pad stack save in the final period to give his team a comeback chance. Geoff Hwang, the CAHL 2006-2007 All-Star MVP Trophy winner, denied all but one of the 24 shots he faced to complete the playoff victory with an awesome .958 save percentage.

Hazards vs. Dragons on Friday, May 4th

The Hazards defeated the Dragons 8-0 on Friday night. Steve Runcie was the player of the game for the Hazards as he had a great three point effort with one goal and a pair of assists. Jon Mitdital rifled in two pucks while Randy Elson, Tim Barnes, Greg Schamps, and all-star Mike Bakker all finished with good two point matches on the strength of a goal and an assist apiece. All-star forward Josh Horning also contributed a goal and Corey Fillipazzi notched a pair of assists. Goaltender Kevin Feary made some big saves as he turned away all 18 pucks for the great shutout victory.

All-star Daniel Leblanc led his team with his play throughout the three periods. Goalie Matt Waldorf deflected 32 pucks on the night which included some good stops and 13 saves in just the first period alone.

Pylons vs. Hazards on Saturday, April 28th

The Pylons defeated the Hazards 7-3 to start off the Saturday night triple header. Kevin Donovan was the Pylons player of the game as he finished with an excellent four point night on the strength of one goal and three assists. All-star forward Brian Abildgaard scored twice and also set up another for a great three point effort. Number 17 all-star captain David Hughes, Shawn Bellingham, and all-star Trevor Hughes buried a goal and an assist apiece to combine for a total of six points. Steve Logrove also scored while Martin Robichaud and Andrew Abildgaard each notched an assist. All-star and leading goalie Martin Gregoire made 23 saves for the win.

Steve Runcie had a great two goal player of the game showing for the Hazards. All-star Josh Horning fired in the Hazard's third goal of the night. Mike Greffen set up two goals while Kevin Van Wyck assisted on one. Goaltender Trevor S. turned aside 23 pucks in the match.

Hazards vs. Dragons on Saturday, April 21st

The Hazards tied the Dragons 4-4 to cap off the Saturday triple header. Jon Mitdital was the Hazards player of the game scoring two goals and an assist for a great three point night. Number 12 Josh Horning had a big two point effort with one goal and one assist. Randy Elson also scored while Tim Barnes and Corey each notched an assist. Goalie Greg Bates made some great saves and a total of 26 stops on the night.

Dragons player of the game, Marcel Poirier, rifled in a pair of goals which were both set up by Charlie Williams. Captain Davin Johnsrud and Mark De Souza also scored while Roy Canteras, Carlos Zaramella, Benoit Robichaud each contributed an assist apiece. Goaltender Matt Waldorf deflected 19 pucks through the three periods which included some big saves.

Hazards vs. Jets on Saturday, April 14th

The Hazards lost to the Jets 11-4 on Saturday. Josh Horning was the player of the game for the Hazards as he scored his 10th goal in just his 8th game, in addition to an assist, for a total of two points. Jon Mitdital had a two point effort as well with one goal and one assist. Mike Bakker and Dave Bates both contributed to the offence with a goal apiece. Number 11 Tim Barnes added an assist to maintain his better than point per game average on the season. Goaltender Mark Chomniak completed the match with 20 stops which included a great pad save on third period breakaway .

Jets player of the game Chris Macgregor not only netted a hat trick but also assisted on five other goals to finish the night with an incredible eight point night. Captain Jason Wroblewsky wasn't far behind as he scored a hat trick as well to go along with two assists for a huge sum of five points. Denny Englehart also rifled in a great hat trick and needed only the first two periods to get all three goals. Don Sheriff passed the 40 point mark with a nice three point effort as he fired in a pair of goals and an assist. Gord Denny and Ryan McDowell both contributed two assists while Brad Paquin and Mike Wroblewsky each notched one. Goalie Geoff Hwang made some big stops and a total of 13 saves for the win.

Hazards vs. Sofa Kings on Saturday, April 7th

The Sofa Kings were victorious on Saturday night as they defeated the Hazards 3-2. Sean Osis had an awesome night for the Sofa Kings as he fired in the game winner at the 8:46 mark of the third period. Sean notched an assist as well for a big two point game. Goaltender Jason Wist started off the Sofa King offence by rifling a great long range pass to set up a breakaway and his team's first goal of the game which was scored by Dennis Kim. Jason Wist not only set up a goal but also made numerous excellent stops in his player of the game performance which included a total of 21 saves. Dennis Kim scored again in the second period to finish with a great two goal game. Clark Piechotta contributed a big pair of assists while Helen Buie set up a goal as well.

Goalie Mark Chomniak was the Hazards player of the game as he made a number of great stops especially his split save on a cross ice pass in the second period. Josh Horning notched the first Hazard goal midway through the first frame with Greg Bates and Tim Barnes picking up the assists. Taylor MacDonald assisted on the team's other goal which was scored by Mike Greffen.

Hazards vs. Outlaws on Friday, April 6th

The Hazards tied the Outlaws 5-5 on Friday evening. The player of the game for the Hazards, Tim Barnes, had a big two goal effort. Captain Greg Bates opened the scoring for his team late in the first period. Mike Bakker and Doug Ferguson also provided firepower with each player launched in a goal. Tim Adams contributed two assists while Mike Greffen, Rich Auck, and Taylor MacDonald each added one. Goalie Mark Chomniak deflected a dozen shots including a great close range glove save late in the first period.

Guy Mageau and Brad MacDonald combined to score all five goals for the Outlaws. Player of the game, Guy Mageau, scored a great hat trick and almost got his fourth and potential game winner when his shot rang off the iron late in the third period. Brad MacDonald rifled in a big pair of goals. Kelby Smith set up a pair of goals including a great pass to Guy Mageau late in third frame to tie the game at five apiece. Ryan Michel also assist on that game tying goal. Goaltender Rob O'Donnell turned away 25 pucks and made some big stops especially his great save on a breakaway late in the first period.

Hazards vs. Sofa Kings on Saturday, March 31st

The  Hazards defeated the Sofa Kings 8-5. Mike Bakker was the player of the game and led the Hazards with a great hat trick, one assist, four point night. Josh Horning had huge four point match as well scoring a pair of goals and assists. Greg Bates and Rich Auck both finished with big three point games. Greg Bates had one goal and two assists while Rich Auck set up three goals. Tim Adams contributed a goal and an assist. Taylor MacDonald and Randy Elson each notched one assist.    

The Piechotta trio of Clark Piechotta, Garhett Piechotta, and Cole Piechotta all had big two point games. Clark Piechotta was the Sofa Kings player of the game as he rifled in a pair of goals. Garhett Piechotta and Cole Piechotta each ahd one goal and one assist. Helen Buie had a two point game as well firing in a goal and an assist. Chris Quon, Kevin Wong, Sean Osis, Ryan Day, and Brad Rogan all contributed an assist on the night. Goalie Andy Leung stopped 24 shots including some big saves.

Pylons vs. Hazards on Friday, March 23rd

Steve Wilson scored 44% of his team's goals to lead the Pylons to a 9-1 victory over the Hazards. Player of the game Steve Wilson scored an incredible total four goals which included a shorthanded game winner and a power play marker. Captain David Hughes had an awesome four point night as well scoring a pair of goals and assists. Shawn Bellingham, Dan Wahl, and Martin Robichaud each contributed a goal on the night with Shawn and Dan notching assists too for two points apiece. Trevor Hughes added his 23rd assist in only his 22nd game which maintained his better than one assist per game average. Goalie Martin Gregoire had some big stops and turned aside 11 pucks in the win.

Doug Ferguson was the Hazards player of the game scoring his team's lone goal late in the second period. Goaltender Ryan Elson finished with a total of 18 saves including some good stops.

Hazards vs. Jets on Saturday, March 10th

The Hazards were defeated by the Jets 8-4. Josh Horning was the player of the game for the Hazards with an outstanding four goal night. Mike Greffen, Tim Barnes, Ken Price, and Mike Greffen contributed the assists. Goaltender Greg Bates turned aside 17 pucks including some big stops.

The player of the game for the Jets Jason Wroblewsky scored two goals and three assists for an awesome five point night. Don Sheriff had a great hat trick scoring the first three goals for the Jets. Chris Macgregor finished with four huge points scoring a goal and three helpers. Number 18 Denny Englehart rifled in a perfect top corner slap shot with just 1:13 to go in the second frame. Gord Denny and Tim Buchan each had big two point nights. Gord notched a goal and an assist while Tim had two assists. Ryan Lloyd added a helper on the night.

Hazards vs. Outlaws on Saturday, March 3rd

The Hazards lost 10-3 to the Outlaws. Josh Horning led his team throughout the night and was the player of the game for the Hazards. Josh, Doug Ferguson, and Dean Moody were the goal scorers while the other trio of Carl Pocock, Tim Barnes, and Mike Bakker picked up the assists. Goalie Greg Bates made some big saves and finished the match with 14 stops.

Jason McKay topped all scorers with an outstanding player of the game performance for the Outlaws with two goals and four assists for a total of six points on the night. Luke Pascoe and Lyndon Pippin made great contributions as well with each player netting a pair of goals. Brad MacDonald had a big three point night with one goal and two assists. Ryan Michel, Guy Mageau, and Kelby Smith also scored with Ryan and Guy picking up assists as well for two point nights. Guy Mageau notched his division leading 50th point and also scored his 33rd goal of the season which puts him now at 17 goals away from number 50.

Hazards vs. Sofa Kings on Friday, February 16th

The Hazards won 7-1 against the Sofa Kings on Friday night. The trio of Mike Bakker, Tim Adams, and Doug Ferguson provided all the firepower for the Hazards. Mike had an incredible four goal and two assist player of the game performance, Tim scored two goals and one assist, while Doug notched one goal and two helpers. Goalie Greg Bates made seven stops on the night.

Goaltender Jason Wist was the player of the game for the third straight match for the Sofa Kings turning aside 41 shots including a number of awesome stops. Jason has been nothing short of outstanding as he has made a total of 141 saves while facing a total of 157 shots during his last 126 minutes of play. 

Garhett Piechotta scored the goal for the Sofa Kings.

Hazards vs. Dragons on Friday, February 9th

The Hazards were defeated by the Dragons 8-4. Player of the game number 69 Carl Pocock led all Hazard scorers with a great three point night scoring one goal and setting up two others. Mike Bakker had a solid game as well with two points. Ryan Elson and Tim Adams both scored while Tim Barnes, Greg Schamps, and Ken Price each contributed an assist. Goalie Greg Bates finished the night with 25 saves including some big stops.

The line of Marcel Poirier, Daniel Leblanc, and Charlie Williams was simply amazing for the Dragons. The Dragons player of the game Marcel, and number 73 Daniel each had a total of five points. Both players scored a pair of goals and three assists. Charlie on the other hand launched in three pucks for the hat trick and also got an assist for a four point night. The line has combined for a total of 39 points over the past two games with Marcel and Charlie each notching 10 points and Daniel netting nine points over the last six periods of play. Roy Canteras also scored while Gary Leblanc and Carlos Zaramella each set up a goal. Goaltender Matt Waldorf made a number of nice saves and turned aside a total of 21 pucks.

Hazards vs. Jets on Saturday, February 3rd

The Hazards were defeated by the Jets 10-6. Number 13 Bates was the Hazards player of the game generating numerous scoring chances throughout the night and finished with a goal and an assist. Number 17 Tim Adams and number 12 Mike Bakker both fired in a pair of goals. Mike added an assist as well for a big three point night. Taylor MacDonald also contributed an assist. Goalie Ryan Elson made 29 stops including a number of big glove saves.

The Jets player of the game Jeff Farncombe was outstanding scoring four times and at least once in every period. Number 13 Paul Chateau had an awesome five point night with one goal and four assists. Chris Macgregor, Mike Wroblewsky, and Jason Wroblewsky all had great three point games. Chris scored three goals for the hat trick, Mike got one goal and a pair of assists, while Jason finished with three assists. Number two Don Sheriff scored a goal as well. Goaltender Geoff Hwang stopped 25 of the pucks fired his way and made a number of big stops including some breakaways.

Hazards vs. Outlaws on Friday, January 26th

The Hazards won 6-5 versus the Outlaws on Friday night. Tim Barnes led the way for the Hazards with a great four point player of the game performance. Doug Ferguson had a big showing as well with a pair of goals. Greg Bates, Randy Elson, and Mike Bakker also fired in a goal apiece while Dave Bates contributed an assist. Goalie Ryan Elson turned aside 27 shots on the night.

Guy Mageau and Joshua Wood powered the Outlaw offence with each player netting three big points. Vince Koch had a pair of points with a goal and an assist. Lyndon Pippin also scored and Ryan Michel added an assist. Goaltender Josh Wildey finished the match with 18 saves.

Hazards vs. Sofa Kings 2.0 on Saturday, January 20th

Greffen led the Hazards to a 7-1 victory over the Sofa Kings 2.0 with an outstanding five point player of the game performance scoring a total of four goals and one assist. Carl Pocock finished with a three big assists while Tim Barnes also scored and Greg Schamps picked up a helper.

Number 11 Helen Buie was the player of the game for the Sofa Kings as she opened the scoring with a power play goal midway through the first period to give her team a 1-0 lead. Sofa Kings Goaltender Jason Wist finished the match with 29 saves including some big stops throughout the night.
