CAHL Cup Championship:
Potters vs.
Extreme on Friday, August 31

Dallas Bassen had his
second consecutive four goal and one assist game for the
Extreme. This time his five point night led his team to a
8-5 CAHL Cup Championship
victory against the
Potters. The Potters are the 2007 CAHL
Silver Medal winners.
The CAHL 2007 Playoff
MVP Trophy was awarded to Dallas Bassen
for his outstanding post season performance which saw him
collect a total of eight goals, two assists, and 10 points.
The CAHL 2007 Top Scorer Trophy winner
David Shierman led the
league in points during the regular season and maintained his
torrid pace in the playoffs as well as he had an awesome four
point match for the Extreme with one goal and three assists.
Team mates
Danny Janes,
Matt Brodie, and
Rance Coulter each fired
in a goal on the night. Janes
and Brodie notched an
assist too for two points apiece.
Extreme goalie
Ian Brunton was strong
between the pipes especially during the final period when the
Potters went all out in an attempt to reduce the three goal
deficit.
At 8:51 of period number three, Potter
Brendan Engdahl rifled
in his third goal of the playoffs to cut the lead to two goals.
The Potters continued to pepper the opposition net and pulled
their goalie for an extra attacker late in the game however that
was when
Rance Coulter scored the
empty net goal to gain the three goal insurance for the Extreme.
Brendan Engdahl also
had a pair of assists to finish with a great three point
contest. Fellow Potter
Dave Maskwa also collected
three points as well with two big goals and one set up.
Brandon Gramlich
topped all Potters with an excellent four point effort as he hit
the back of the net twice and had two helpers.
Chad Cox,
Kevin Demyon, and
Tyler Bohn each contributed
an assist for the Potter offence. The last line of defence
Chris Smishek made some
stellar stops especially his save on a point blank scoring
chance late in the game to keep his team within striking
distance.

Player of the game
Dallas Bassen was the key
for the
Extreme as he rifled in four goals and an assist in the
Wednesday night playoff match up and eventual
7-5 victory against the
Blades of Steel.
Fellow Extreme Kris Pickering
was next in line with a three point night.
David Shierman and
Matt Brodie both scored a
goal and an assist apiece. Team mates
Danny Janes,
Todd Bassen and
Troy Ear each helped set up a
goal apiece.
Between the pipes
Extreme goalie
Ian Brunton made some
excellent stops for the playoff win.
The
Blades of Steel player of the game goaltender
Jennifer Handby
was great as she denied some big scoring chances from the ever
dangerous Extreme team throughout the contest.
Trevor Reynolds
led the Blades of Steel offence with a pair of goals.
Shawn Gallahger,
Paul Reardigan and
Adam Snelling were
the other three scorers on the night.
Bret Schott had two
set ups while team captain
James Werner,
Shawn Henry,
Jeremy Raymaker,
and
Conrad Boychuk
each contributed one assist.

Rockets vs.
Extreme on Wednesday, August 22
The
Extreme were won 6-3
against the
Rockets to
finish with an
incredible undefeated season going 11-0-1 through the regular
season. Brad Kerr helped
ensure the outstanding feat as he scored two goals and an assist
for a three point player of the game effort.
Danny James,
Dallas Bassen,
Mark Romaniuk,
David Shierman, and
Chad Bassen all fired in a
goal apiece for the Extreme as well.
Danny James also notched an
assist for a two point contest.
Extreme goaltender
Ian Brunton finished with
20 stops which included turning away 17 of the 18 shots aimed
his way during the first two periods alone.
The Rockets player of the game
Scott Bouwman led his
team with a strong two goal night. The CAHL 2006-2007 Playoff
MVP Trophy winner
Eric Havinga also hit the
back of the net with a goal in the final frame. Team mate
Brian Burnball
contributed an assist.
Goalie Travis Casoiso
denied 24 chances on the night for the Rockets.

Ice Storm vs.
Extreme on Tuesday, August 14
The Tuesday night
match up between the Ice Storm and
Extreme was an offensive showcase as each team featured a
five goal scorer while the teams combined for an incredible
total of 25 scores on the night.
The
Extreme eventually pulled away with the win with the help of
their player of the game
Chad Bassen who used his
deadly speed to score four goals and four assists for a total of
eight points.
Dallas Bassen was the
Extreme five goal marksman who also collected a pair of assists
for a seven point match. His first goal of the night was the
most memorable as his bullet like shot left a mark of undeniable
accuracy as the puck became lodged in the mesh right at the top
corner of the goal net.
Seven other Extreme players had multi-point efforts.
Brad Kerr notched five
points;
Kris Pickering and
Mitch Brodie both had four
points. Leading overall scorer
David Shierman and
Todd Bassen each tallied
three points while
Danny James and
Rance Goulter picked up
two points apiece.
Goaltender
Ian Brunton made numerous
big stops such as his two excellent breakaway saves on the Ice
Storm's five goal man Chris Sawchuk.
Player of the game
Chris Sawchuk not only
fired in five goals, he also set up a couple of his team mates
as well for a sum of seven points.
Patrick Lauzon was up
next with a four point night.
Mike Cook pocketed three
points while
Martin Robichaud and
Shaughn McAuliffe
each hit the back of the mesh once.
After the perfect top corner shot from the Extreme player
Dallas Bassen during the
first period
Nick Oriold was not going
to let the Ice Storm be outdone in the accuracy department and
rifled in a virtually unstoppable top shelf laser beam of his
own in the middle period.
Ice Storm Goalie
Mark Cole contributed an
assist and turned aside 27 shots which included a great pair of
breakaway stops against the dangerous eight point scorer
Chad Bassen.

Blades of
Extreme vs. Extreme on Friday, August 10
Mark Romaniuk was the
Extreme player of the as he had a top flight three goal and
one assist display to propel his team to a
7-5 win against the
Blades of Steel.
Extreme team mate
Brad Kerr was great too as
he tallied a total of six points on the strength of two goals
and four assists.
Dallas Bassen scored
early in the middle period and assisted on another Extreme goal
just over three minutes later to finish with a pair of points.
Danny James also scored
while
Todd Bassen contributed an
assist.
Extreme goalie Aaron
made a total of 26 saves which included stopping all of the 14
shots which were aimed his way in the second frame.
Player of the game Graeme Kozin
had a stunning four goal match for the Blades of Steel.
Sheldon Harris
notched a stellar three assists. Brad Roy also scored while
Dan Pietrzak,
Jeremy Raymaker, Paul Reardigan
each set up a goal.
Jennifer Lynn
Hanby made some big stops for the Blades of Steel and
totaled 19 saves on the night.

Potters vs.
Extreme on Tuesday, July 31

It was a battle of the 7-1-0 Potters
against the 7-0-1
Extreme on Tuesday night. The Extreme were triumphant
by the score of 5-8 to remain
undefeated this season.
Chad Bassen was the player
of the game for the Extreme as he scored a hat trick and an
assist. Top overall scorer David Shierman
had an excellent five point night.
Mitch Brodie and
Isaac Reid collected two
points apiece.
Kris Pickering rifled in
a goal while
Danny James,
Dallas Bassen, and
Rance Goulter each
contributed an assist.
Ian Brunton made a top
flight butterfly save on a breakaway chance in the first period
and finished with 25 stops for the Extreme.
Potter
Kevin Demyon navigated
through a maze of Extreme defenders and unleashed a perfect
wrist shot for his first of two goals on the night.
Demyon added an assist as
well for a total of three points.
Team leader
Greg Bergeron had a great
three point showing as well to continue his expert pace of 2.44
points per game.
Kirk Ringuette had a
pair of points while Brendan Engdahl
launched in a goal in the final period.
Sean Appleton and
Dave Maskwa each
contributed an assist.
Thomas Waters tallied a
total of 19 stops and denied a great breakaway scoring chance in
the middle period with a tremendous save.

Pylons vs.
Extreme on Friday, July 27
The
Extreme extended their undefeated streak to eight games with
a 8-4 win against the
Pylons.
David Shierman led the
way for the Extreme with a six point player of the game showing.
Team mates
Matt Brodie and
Danny James tallied three
points apiece while
Todd Bassen and
Isaac Reid each notched a
pair of points.
Kris Pickering also
scored.
Goaltender
Ian Brunton kept out 19
pucks for the Extreme.
Martin Gregoire was the
Pylons player of the game as he made 30 saves which included
some great stops to thwart the dangerous Extreme scorers.
Keegan Donovan and
Andrew Abildgaard hit
the back of the net for the Pylons with
Brian Abildgaard
Kieth Hughes contributing
assists.

Blades of
Steel vs. Extreme on Monday, July 16
Goalie
Ian Brunton was the player
of the game for the
Extreme as they defeated the Blades of Steel
on Monday night's match up.
Ian Brunton finished with
22 stops and made a tremendous pad save on a short range shot
which was set up from a cross ice pass during a penalty kill
situation for his team.
The Extreme offence
was a total team affair as
Shadoe Stoodley,
Matt Brodie,
Mitch Brodie, and
Troy Ear each fired in a pair
of goals. Stoodley
picked up a couple of assists as well for an incredible four
point night.
Isaac Reid also scored and
collected an assist for a two point effort.
Rance Goulter,
Danny James, and
Kris Pickering
contributed two assists apiece while
David Shierman notched a
single assist.
Blades of Steel captain
James Werner led his
team with an outstanding four point player of the game
performance as he scored a goal and set up three of his team
mates.
Brad Roy had a great
three point match with a goal and a pair of assists for the
Blades of Steel.
Chris Hill and
Trevor Reynolds
rifled in a goal apiece. Hill
collected an assist as well for a two point effort.
Conrad Boychuk
collected an assist on the night.
Blades of Steel

Jennifer Lynn
Hanby made a couple of fantastic saves as she stopped the
initial and rebound chance on a breakaway during some four on
four action late in the middle period.
Hanby
completed the match with 21 saves.

Rockets
all-star defenceman
Jason Upton put on a clinic
as he deked around three opponents to go in undefended for a
close range shot only to be thwarted by a tremendous save from
Extreme goaltender Ian Brunton.
That was the tone of
the game as it was a battle of the goalies all night with the
Rockets goalie
Alex Nutma matching
Ian Brunton save for save
for the eventual 3-3 tie.
Each goaltender was his team's player of the game and both
finished with an identical 25 saves on 28 shots for an .893 save
percentage.
Among
Alex Nutma's big stops the
most memorable might have been his incredible glove save on a
wide open chance due to a turnover late in the game to preserve
a 3-3 tie.
Mike Parton topped all Rockets
with a strong two point match as he scored a goal and an assist.
Scott Bouwman fired in
his ninth career regular season and playoff combined shorthanded
goal which was also his 70th career regular season goal.
Eric Havinga opened the
scoring for the Rockets less than two minutes into the first
period. Team mates
Brian Havinga,
Steven Havinga, and
Kurt Bransma
contributed an assist apiece.
Isaac Reid fired in two big
goals for the Extreme while
Kris Pickering put his
team on the scoreboard first at the 2:33 mark of the initial
period.
Brad Kerr had a great three
point match as he got the first assist on all of the Extreme's
goals.
Mark Romaniuk made a
solid two assist contribution on the night.

Cyclones on Friday, July 6
David Shierman powered
the
Extreme to a win over the Cyclones
on Friday with an incredible five goal and three assist player
of the game performance.
Dallas Bassen also
notched eight points for the Extreme while team mate
Matt Brodie was close
behind with seven points.
Isaac Reid and
Kris Pickering both
contributed six points while Danny James
collected two points and
Mitch Brodie scored once.
Extreme goaltender Ian Brunton
finished with 18 saves and a pair of assists for the win.
Roy Canteras,
Jason Wood,
Paul Chateau,
Davin Johnsrud and
Stephanie Wilde
provided the offence for the Cylcones.
The Cyclones goalie
Joe Leung turned aside a
total of 33 shots which included some big stops on the night.

Snipers vs.
Extreme on Thursday, June 28

David Shierman had an
excellent five goal and four assist player of the game
performance to led his
Extreme to a Thursday night win against the
Snipers.
Goaltender
Josh Wildey was the player
of the game for the Snipers as he finished with a colossal total
of 53 saves.
Wildey stopped a short
range shot which was set up immediately after a face off win in
the first period. Later in the same period he made a butterfly
save on a one timed shot which was fired from just a mere few
feet in front in him.
Wildey capped off his great
performance with a tremendous glove grab on a slap shot which
was rifled from the slot area late in the third period.
Snipers
Brent Howard,
Chris Bierwagon, and
Alex Fraser were the goal
scorers on the night while
Trent Ranahan
and Jamie Sexton
contributed the assists.
Isaac Reid,
Matt Brodie, and
Danny James each had six
points for the Extreme. Todd Bassen
and
Dallas Bassen notched
four points apiece.
Kris Pickering scored
once while
Rance Goulter contributed
an assist.
Extreme goalie
Ian Brunton made an
outstanding save on a two man breakaway in the middle period and
even stopped the follow up rebound chance.

Ice Storm vs.
Extreme on Monday, June 18

The match up between the Ice Storm
and
Extreme was a goal scorers' dream as a combined total of 15
pucks hit the back of the goal nets. The Ice Storm were down 8-6
with still almost three minutes to go in the game when Danny James
of the Extreme added an insurance goal at 2:46 to increase their
margin to three goals for the win.
Matt Brodie was the
Extreme player of the game as he scored a hat trick and an
assist for a four point night. Team mate David Shierman made a
sensational play as he went coast to coast and fired in a top
shelf back hand goal to finish it off. Shierman also had four
assists for a great five point game. Isaac Reid and Kris Pickering
each contributed a pair of goals.
Extreme goalie Ian
Brunton stopped a breakaway in the first period and went on to
collect a total of 27 saves for the victory.
Patrick Lauzon topped
all Ice Storm players with an excellent four point player of the
game effort as he reeled in a pair of goals and assists.
Derek Douglas also
scored twice for the Ice Storm while
Jason Petelski and
Chris Sawchuk each
launched in one. Nick Oriold,
Martin Robichaud, and
Mike Cook contributed an
assist apiece.
Ice Storm goaltender
Mark Cole finished the game
with 35 saves which included stopping 16 of the 17 shots aimed
his way in the middle period.
Cole started off the second
period with two big saves in just the first minute alone as he
made a pad stop which was followed up by a glove save just
moments later.

Extreme on Friday, June 15
J.R. Mitdital led the
Hazards
with a great two goal player of the game effort in their loss to
the
Extreme. Fellow Hazard Steve Runcie
notched a pair of points too with a couple of assists while
Josh Horning rifled in a
goal during the second period.
Brad Kerr topped all
Extreme player with an incredible four goal and five assist
performance. Team mates Matt Brodie and Mark Romaniuk each had
six points while Todd Bassen and Isasc Reid both four points.
Extreme goaltender Ian Brunton completed the match with some
good stops for the win.

Tornadoes vs.
Extreme on Friday, June 8

Kris Pickering led the
Extreme with a dominating seven goal performance which
propelled his team to a Friday night win over the
Tornadoes. Team mate Danny James had
an outstanding match as well with five points on the strength of
four goals and an assist.
Extreme goaltender Ian
Brunton was great in guarding the 6x4 net as he made some big
stops especially his excellent glove save off a point blank shot
from the side of the crease early in the game.
Jamie Ryan was the
player of the game for the Tornadoes as he notched a team
leading three points. Joe Nitychoruk fired in a pair of goals,
one in each of the first two periods. Steve Copeland and Tommy
McIvor each rifled in a goal as well while
Patricio
Inostroza contributed two assists.
Tornadoes goalie Rob
O'Donnell turned aside 21 shots which included some good saves
such as his big glove grab during the middle period.
