CAHL Cup Champion Dynasty

Silver Medal Winning Drunken Clams

The first place Dynasty faced off against the red hot Drunken Clams, who were on a six game win streak, for the CAHL Cup Championship on Friday night at Cardel Place.

The regular season top scorer Chad Wolkowski opened the scoring for the Dynasty just 34 seconds into the game. The next 13 minutes featured intense yet cautious action as neither team wanted to give up the next one. That was when with 1:34 left to go in the period Nick Hryhor fed Chad Wolkowski a perfect long range pass to set up his second goal of the night.

It turned out the Dynasty were not even finished for the period as Huy Lam fired in one more puck with just 45 seconds remaining to give his team a significant three score lead heading into the middle frame.

Nick Hryhor made it a four goal barrier early in the second period with assists coming from Hung Luu and Chad Wolkowski. The Drunken Clams were just about to start though as Michael Bloch hit the back of the Dynasty net less than 30 seconds later to get his team on the scoreboard. Team mate Jeremy Salomons notched the assist.

Huy Lam wanted to slow the gaining momentum of the Drunken Clams and utilizing his speed he went around a defender with a dazzling move and scored his second goal of the game. Hung Luu contributed the assist, his second of the game.

Jeremy Salomons re-injected power into the Drunkens Clams with his first goal and second point of the night at the 10:25 mark.

Peter Nguyen fired a sharp angle laser of a shot 23 seconds later to get the Dynasty another goal on the scoreboard. At 9:35, less than a minute after Peter Nguyen's goal, teammate Tony Le rifled in his first goal of the match with Brian Chau contributing the assist.

Sabi Hundle answered for the Drunken Clams as he fired in a puck that was set up by Travis Ross.

Only 47 ticks of the clock later, Brian Chau absolutely hammered the black disc into the Drunken Clams net with Chad Wolkowski and Nick Hryhor collecting the assists.

Peter Nguyen finalized the middle period scoring with his second goal of the game which was assisted by Tony Le, who picked up his second point of the period. The second frame was a storm of action as a combined total nine goals were scored.

At 10:47 of the final frame Dynasty's Matt Hoang scored with Steven Shibata and Nelson Sichampanakhone netting the assists.

Nigel Sadal, the Drunken Clams goaltender, made a remarkable save on a breakaway as Chad Wolkowski went in all alone and made an incredible move by passing the puck to his own skate blade and back to his stick blade.

Wade Bowley hit the back of the net for the Drunken Clams one more time with less than 10 minutes to go.

The Dynasty goalie Steve Nguyen made great stops throughout the three periods and shut the door the rest of the way as the final seconds ticked away towards the last buzzer of the season sounding their championship victory.

The Drunken Clams were given the CAHL 2007-2008 Silver Medals for their great season. Chad Wolkowski was handed the CAHL 2007-2008 Top Scorer Trophy for his incredible season in leading all scorers with 44 goals, 40 assists, and 84 points. Brian Chau was awarded with the CAHL 2007-2008 Playoff MVP Trophy for his outstanding play at both ends of the ice helping limit the Drunken Clams to just 16 shots while netting a pair of points in each playoff game.

Dynasty captain Nick Hryhor was presented with the CAHL Cup Championship Trophy as his team mates and fans erupted in screaming celebration of their tremendous year. The Dynasty started the game as the top regular season team and ended it as champions.

With just 2:29 to go in the 3rd period and facing a one goal deficit the North Stars fired off an incredible four goals in the next 120 seconds for a thrilling come from behind 5-2 victory.

Peter Nguyen opened the scoring late in the first frame with his 18th goal of the season to give the Dynasty an initial 1-0 lead.

Goaltender Steve Nguyen deflected some stellar chances in the middle period as he ensured that the game would go into the final and deciding frame all tied up.

The North Stars goalie Darren Bladon finished with a remarkable .941 save percentage as he was peppered with a total of 34 pucks while turning aside 32 of them to backstop his team for the win.
