Weekend Division:

2007 CAHL Cup Champion Pylons

The Pylons are the 2007 CAHL Cup Champions as they defeated the Cyclones 6-2 and the other contenders in the Weekend Division, Hazards and Rug Doctors, both lost by default due to an insufficient number of players.

 

Pylons captain Brian Abildgaard powered his team to the victory and was awarded the CAHL 2007 Playoff MVP Trophy for his incredible hat trick, five point performance. Russ Bechtold notched an outstanding five points as well with four assists and a goal early in the final frame. 

 

Keegan Donovan also had a great match for the Pylons as he scored a pair of goals and assists which included a breakaway goal with just five seconds left in the contest. Team mate Tom Sparks contributed an assist as well.

 

Between the pipes, the CAHL 2006-2007 Top Goalie Trophy winner Martin Gregoire was awesome and denied 19 of the 21 shots fired his way for a top flight .905 save percentage.

 

Davin Johnsrud opened the scoring with a huge breakaway goal midway through the first period for the Cyclones. Defenceman Mike Wroblewsky hit the back of the net late in the middle period to cut the deficit to one goal and change the score from 3-1 to 3-2 at the time.

 

Cyclone Mark De Souza had a great night as he set up both scores to finish with two points. Paul Chateau assisted on Mike Wroblewsky's goal.

CAHL 2007 Top Female Forward Trophy Winner

Helen Buie led all female forwards in scoring and was awarded the CAHL 2007 Top Female Forward Trophy for her great season. It was Helen Buie's second consecutive CAHL Top Female Trophy win.

Rug Doctors vs. Cyclones on Friday, August 24

Jason Wood was the Cyclones player of the game as his goal knocked the 2-0 deficit down to 2-1 and set the stage for the eventual 3-2 comeback win against the Rug Doctors.    

 

Jeremy Kander also scored for the Cyclones while Christina De Souza contributed an assist.

 

Goalie Matt Waldorf made some nice stops as he turned aside a dozen shots for the victory.

 

The Rug Doctors player of the game Andy Leung made 19 stops which included a huge save on a point blank shot which was following up with a glove stop on the quick rebound.

 

Clark Piechotta powered the Rug Doctor offence as he scored a goal and an assist. Ross Peak also scored while Josh Caswell picked up an assist.

Rug Doctors vs. Gladiators on Friday, August 10

Goal scoring expert Ross Peak powered the Rug Doctors to a win over the Gladiators with a two goal and one assist player of the game effort.

 

Rug Doctor Bryan Manchul had a big two goal night as well. Cole Piechotta and Sean Osis both had two point matches as Piechotta scored a goal and an assist while Osis contributed a pair of assists. Kevin Wong also scored while Mark Boulton picked up an assist.

 

Goaltender Andy Leung deflected 19 pucks on 21 shots to finish with a great .905 save percentage for the Rug Doctors.

 

Brian McKenzie was the Gladiators player of the game as he fired in a big power play goal late in the first period to give his team a 2-0 lead at the time.

 

Gladiators Sid Abdallah and Adel Fares continued to rack up the points as Abdallah collected a pair of assists for his 15th point in just nine games while Fares scored the opening goal which was also his team leading 17th point.

 

Gladiator defenceman Jim Murphy contributed an assist and Lino Martino turned away 13 shots in the match which included some solid stops.

Snipers vs. Rug Doctors on Friday, August 3

Jamie Sexton made a great forehand to backhand move to score his first goal of the night during the second period on a shorthanded breakaway which was set up by team mate Chris Bierwagon. Sexton added another goal in the final period to go along with an assist in the first frame to top all Snipers with a three point player of the game effort which helped lead his team to a win over the Rug Doctors on Friday night.

 

Campbell Dansereau fired in a couple of goals for the Snipers as well while  Jeff Stevenson, Alex Fraser, and Dan Kopcinovic each had a goal and an assist.

 

In addition to setting up Jamie Sexton's breakaway goal Chris Bierwagon also collected another helper late in the first period for a solid two point night. Ian Sexton and Brent Howard contributed an assist apiece.

 

Rug Doctor Garhett Piechotta, who already has five goals in just his last seven games, went in all alone on a breakaway after a receiving a great pass from team mate Cole Piechotta. Garhett Piechotta made a deke move however the Snipers goalie Josh Wildey knocked the puck away with his left pad. Josh Wildey tallied 16 stops and only let one puck get by him all game for the win.

 

Ross Peak scored the lone goal for the Rug Doctors which was assisted by Cole Piechotta and Kevin Wong.

 

Snipers forward Alex Fraser made a beauty drop pass to Jamie Sexton who rifled the puck towards the net only to be thwarted by the Rug Doctors player of the game and goalie Andy Leung. Shortly after the Snipers had a two man breakaway chance with a total of three shots however they were once again denied by Andy Leung. Leung notched a total of 38 saves in the match.

Hazards vs. Rug Doctors on Friday, July 27

The Hazards player of the game Andrew Arnold, Mike Greffen, and Jesse Foster were scintillating as the trio combined for a total of 19 points with eight, six, and five points respectively. Greg Bates also scored while Josh Horning and Greg Schamps contributed an assist apiece to help the Hazards triumph over the Rug Doctors.

 

Hazards goaltender Warner Johnston knocked down 19 shots to maintain his perfect  4-0-0 record.

 

The Rug Doctors leading scorer Cole Piechotta was at his usual top performing best as he notched three points to pick up the player of the game honours for his team.

 

Clark Piechotta and Ross Peak were strong for the Rug Doctors as well as he player collected a pair of points. Garhett Piechotta also scored while Mark Boulton tallied an assist.

 

Rug Doctors goalie Andy Leung denied 19 pucks which included some good saves through the three periods.

Tornadoes vs. Rug Doctors on Friday, July 20

The Tornadoes won 7-5 against the Rug Doctors on Friday night.

 

Stan Mazursky was the Tornadoes player of the game as he led the way with an outstanding four point night. Team mate Ryan Ewasiuk scored twice including the game winning goal.

 

Jamie Ryan got one goal and one helper to take over the Tornado team scoring lead once again. Number eight Joe Nitychoruk finished with a goal and an assist as well. Fellow Tornado Rusk Ditto scored at the 5:49 mark of the middle frame.

 

Tornado goalie Rob O'Donnell made some nice stops and turned aside 14 shots for the victory.

 

The Rug Doctors player of the game Clark Piechotta and team mate Garhett Piechotta scored a combined total of six points with both players setting each other up. Clark Piechotta notched a pair of goals and an assist while Garhett Piechotta had the opposite with a goal and a couple of assists.

 

Cole Piechotta also scored for the Rug Doctors. Number 25 Brad Rogan fired in a goal with 9:17 showing on the score clock in the final period. Mark Boulton contributed a assist on the ngiht.

 

Rug Doctors goalie Andy Leung made some big saves among the total of 28 pucks aimed his way which included a dozen stops in the second period alone.

Rug Doctors vs. Cyclones on Friday, July 13

Player of the game Cole Piechotta and Ross Peak were a lethal combination as each player launched in a hat trick and an assist to power the Rug Doctors to a 7-6 win against the Cyclones on Friday night.

 

Clark Piechotta also scored for the Rug Doctors with a goal at the 9:20 mark of the first period. Defenceman and captain Chris Quon notched an assist to continue his two game point streak.

 

The CAHL 2006-2007 Top Female Player Trophy winner Helen Buie had a big two point night with a pair of assists while team mates Lindsey Stilling and Haley Neilson contributed an assist apiece.

 

The Rug Doctors goalie Andy Leung stopped 23 shots and ensured the win when he made a spectacular pad stack save on a breakaway with just 10 seconds left in the game to keep the 7-6 lead.

 

Carey Dumont was the player of the game for the Cyclones as he led the team with a hat trick performance. Davin Johnsrud had a big match as well with a goal and an assist and now is tied with team mate Jeremy Kander for the most points on the Cyclones.

 

Joel Nedohin and Steve McKay and also scored for the Cyclones while Paul Chateau collected an assist.

 

Goaltender Joe Leung made some nice stops which included an outstanding save with his right pad on a breakaway deke attempt in the final period.

Rug Doctors vs. Gladiators on Friday, July 6

With just 0:40 showing on the score board in the first period the Rug Doctors goalie Andy Leung made an awesome save on a huge breakaway chance. Leung continued his great play against the Gladiators through the remaining two periods to capture the player of the game honours.

 

Chris Quon, Pete and Garhett Piechotta provided the offensive firepower for the Rug Doctors. Quon and Pete contributed the goals while Piechotta contributed the assist. 

 

Travis Lowe put together an outstanding player of the game performance for the Gladiators with a total of four points. Lowe rifled in a pair of goals, which included the game winner, and a pair of assists to lead his team to their Friday night victory against the Rug Doctors.

 

Samir Abdallah was excellent as well as he launched in a couple of goals on the power play for the Gladiators. Adel Fares and Nazieh Hammoud were the other two scorers on the night as both players notched a goal apiece. Fares collected a pair of assists as well for a great three point match. Team mates Sam Fares and Mike Schiebelbein each contributed an assist.

 

Gladiator Jim Murphy played a pivotal role in the win with his strong defensive play in the back end and he picked up an assist as well in the final period.

 

The Gladiators goaltender Lino Martino made a great breakaway save in the middle period which was followed up with an excellent pad stack save as the Rug Doctors maintained puck possession for the second scoring chance.

Pylons vs. Rug Doctors on Friday, June 29

The Pylons narrowly defeated in the Rug Doctors in a close 3-2 battle on Friday night.

 

Brian Abildgaard was the Pylons player of the game as he fired in two goals which included the game winner. Russ Bechtold also scored for the Pylons with a goal less than three minutes into the second period.

 

Garhett Piechotta had a two point night with a goal and an assist to finish with the player of the game honours for the Rug Doctors. Team mate Ross Peak scored as well while Dennis Kim contributed an assist.

 

Both goalies were fantastic as they each stopped over 91% of the shots. The Pylons goalie David Hughes stopped 23 of the 25 pucks aimed his way for a .920 save percentage while the Rug Doctors goalie Jason Wist turned aside 31 of 34 shots for a .912 save percentage.

Hazards vs. Rug Doctors on Friday, June 22

Josh Horning powered the Hazards to a Friday night victory against the Rug Doctors with an incredible four goal game.

 

Mike Robertson and Tim Barnes were awesome for the Hazards as well. Robertson had a six point night and Barnes notched a total of five points.

 

Howard McKinnon collected a pair of assists for the Hazards while team mates Greg Schamps and Mike Greffen each scored a goal.

 

Hazards goalie Greg Bates made some nice stops for the win.

 

The Rug Doctors player of the game Cole Piechotta had a great two goal game. Sean Osis contributed the assist on Piechotta's second goal of the night.

 

Rug Doctors goaltender Andy Leung finished with some big saves among his total of 25 stops in the match.

Potters vs. Rug Doctors on Friday, June 15

Brandon Gramlich had a hat trick and goalie Thomas Waters finished with an awesome .947 save percentage to lead the Saskatchewan Potters to a Friday evening win against the Rug Doctors.

 

Greg Bergeron had a three point match for the Potters as well with a goal and a pair of assists. Kevin Demyon and Dave Maskwa both had good two point nights. Chad Cox, Kirk Ringuette, and Sean Appleton fired in a goal apiece while Tyler Bohn, Jason Villeneuve, and Brendan Engdahl each contributed an assist. 

 

Kevin Wong was the player of the game for the Rug Doctors as he launched in his team's lone goal. Goaltender Andy Leung made some big stops among his 26 saves on the night.

Cyclones vs. Rug Doctors on Saturday, June 9

The Rug Doctors defeated the Cyclones in a nail biting 2-1 win on Saturday night.

 

Rug Doctor Jeff Chang made the difference on the score board by breaking a 1-1 tie at the 9:35 mark of the third period with a great backhand goal that was assisted by Cole Piechotta. Brad Rogan and Clark Piechotta also contributed assists on the night.

 

The Rug Doctor's goalie Andy Leung was near perfect as he stopped 18 of 19 shots aimed his way for a fantastic .947 save percentage. He ensured that his team was going home with the win when he made two excellent saves as the Cyclones had a pair of great chances right at the doorstep by his left side of the crease late in the game.

 

Jason Wood provided the firepower for the Cyclones with a goal just 2:10 into the first period. Cyclones goaltender Joe Leung made some big saves throughout the match including a huge glove grab on a slap shot from the side boards during the middle frame.
