The
Potters player of the game
Brandon Gramlich drove
his team to the big playoff win against the 2006-2007
CAHL Cup Champion Rockets on Wednesday
as he
hit the back of the mesh four times to go along with four
assists for a huge sum of eight points.
Potter team mate
Dave Maskwa notched an
excellent five point effort with two goals and three assists.
Kevin Demyon fired in a
great hat trick while
Brendan Engdahl scored
twice and
Chad Cox had a goal and two
helpers.
Goalie
Chris Smishek was stellar
between the pipes for the Potters and denied 17 of 19 shots
aimed his way for a .895 save percentage.
Player of the game
Cody Feenstra topped the
Rockets scoring charts with a goal and an assist.
Scott Bouwman also scored
while
Scott Bergen contributed
an assist.
Rockets goaltender Travis Casoiso
turned aside some big plays as he was face to face with numerous
scoring chances throughout the three periods.

Rockets vs.
Extreme on Wednesday, August 22
The
Extreme were won 6-3
against the
Rockets to
finish with an
incredible undefeated season going 11-0-1 through the regular
season. Brad Kerr helped
ensure the outstanding feat as he scored two goals and an assist
for a three point player of the game effort.
Danny James,
Dallas Bassen,
Mark Romaniuk,
David Shierman, and
Chad Bassen all fired in a
goal apiece for the Extreme as well.
Danny James also notched an
assist for a two point contest.
Extreme goaltender
Ian Brunton finished with
20 stops which included turning away 17 of the 18 shots aimed
his way during the first two periods alone.
The Rockets player of the game
Scott Bouwman led his
team with a strong two goal night. The CAHL 2006-2007 Playoff
MVP Trophy winner
Eric Havinga also hit the
back of the net with a goal in the final frame. Team mate
Brian Burnball
contributed an assist.
Goalie Travis Casoiso
denied 24 chances on the night for the Rockets.

Potters vs.
Rockets on Wednesday, August 15
The second place
Potters were against the fourth place
Rockets on Wednesday and the results
lived up to expectations as the teams skated an exciting back
and fourth match which also had next to no stoppages in play for
much of the contest.
The Potters player of the game
Thomas Waters turned
aside a remarkable 97.6% of the shots as he stopped 41 of the 42
pucks launched his direction to narrow the race for the overall
leading goalie.
Alex Nutma, the Rockets
player of the game, once again had another big showing with 32
saves to keep his top spot in the goaltender standings.
The winner of the CAHL
2007 Top Goalie Trophy may very well be decided in the final
week of the regular season as the difference between first place
Alex Nutma and second place
Thomas Waters is now just
0.35 in goals against average.
Brandon Gramlich,
Chad Cox,
Scott Roy, and
Brendan Engdahl
supplied the firepower for the Potters with a goal apiece.
Jason Villeneuve,
Kevin Demyon, and
Rick Vaive were the set up
men with each player notching an assist.
Scott Roy had an assist in
addition to his goal to compile a two point night.
Jordan Pinkster fired
in the lone goal for the Rockets with
Steven Havinga
contributing the assist.

Ice Storm on Wednesday, August 8

Sharpshooter
Eric Havinga seized the
puck from midair, dropped it by the blade of his stick blade,
and with a quick snap of his wrists scored his hat trick goal of
the night. Player of the game
Eric Havinga accounted for
all of the
Rockets goals as his team
and the
Ice Storm battled to a hard fought
3-3 deadlock on Wednesday
night.
Eric Havinga's line mates
Mike Parton and
Jordan Pinkster
combined for three big assists with
Parton helping twice and
Pinkster setting up
one.
Tim Ryskamp also
contributed an assist.
Rockets goaltender
Alex Nutma made a fine glove
grab on a heavy duty slap shot early in the game and a dynamite
blocker save on a two on one break during the closing period to
cap off another strong showing which kept him number one overall
in the goalie chase.
The Ice Storm player of the game
Chris Sawchuk blasted in
two goals to preserve his virtual goal per game pace as he now
has eight scores in just nine outings.
Leading team scorer Patrick Lauzon
provided
the all important third and game tying goal for the Ice Storm
early in the third frame. Joe Sims,
Martin Robichaud, and
Mike Cook provided the
assists in the contest.
The shorthanded
Rockets barged in for a breakaway during the initial period
however the Ice Storm's final line of defence was up to the
challenge and Mark Cole made
a towering pad save to fend off the precious scoring chance. Mark Cole
finished with 19 stops in the match.

Blades of
Steel vs. Rockets on Wednesday, August 1

The Wednesday night match up was a clash of the goalies as the
Blades of Steel
faced off against the
Rockets.
The two goalies denied
a combined 97.5% of the shots as they turned aside the shooters
all night.
Jennifer Lynn
Hanby made a brilliant save on a short range shot from the
dangerous Rockets elite scorer
Scott Bouwman during a
penalty kill situation in the middle period.
Scott Bouwman made a
tremendous save himself as he blocked a clear cut point blank
shot earlier in the game during the first frame.
Between the other pipes the Rockets goalie
Alex Nutma responded to a
great shorthanded breakaway chance with a fantastic save to keep
the score at 0-0 in the second period.
It was not until there
was just over five minutes remaining in the game when the
Rockets all-star
defenceman
Kurt Bransma came through
in the clutch to score the go ahead goal.
Scott Bouwman and
Scott Bergen assisted on
the play.
The Rockets held back
the final push from the Blades of Steel to go home with the
dramatic 1-0 victory.
Jennifer Lynn
Hanby was the Blades of Steel player of the game for her
excellent performance as she finished with a .947 save
percentage.
The Rockets player of the game Alex Nutma
had the superb shutout win and is now the overall leader in both
goals against average (2.67) and save percentage (.890).

The line of
Eric Havinga,
Jordan Pinkster, and
Mike Parton was dominant as the
three forwards combined for a startling total of 15 points to
fuel the
Rockets to a victory against the
Snipers.
The Rockets player of the game
Eric Havinga was
responsible for a stunning total of four goals and two assists.
The other two thirds of the line
Jordan Pinkster and
Mike Parton covered five and four
points respectively.
Team mate
Brian Havinga also had a
four point night. The Rockets leading scorer
Scott Bouwman launched in
a hat trick and a pair of helpers for a total of five points.
Steven Havinga notched
three points while
Kurt Bransma picked up a
pair of points.
Tim Ryskamp contributed an
assist.
Rockets goalie
Alex Nutma denied a massive
one timed slap slot with his right pad in the first period and
finished with 15 saves for the win.
Jeff Stevenson was the
Snipers player of the game as he fired in a goal and an assist
for a two point match.
Pat Smith also scored for the
Snipers with a goal in the first frame which was set up by
Alex Fraser.
Snipers goaltender
Josh Wildey made a great
save on a short range rebound chance after he turned aside the
initial shot late in the first period. He went on to complete the
night with a huge total of 42 saves.

Ice Storm vs.
Rockets on Wednesday, July 18

Scott Bouwman collected
his third hat trick of the season to energize the
Rockets to a win against the
Ice Storm on Wednesday night. With
another great effort
Bouwman continues to be
among the upper echelon of scorers as he sits fourth overall in
the scoring race.
Rocket
Scott Bergen netted the
game winning goal and added three assists for an awesome four
point match.
At the 5:14 mark of the second period
Cody Feenstra went in all
alone on a breakaway and made a beauty forehand to backhand drag
deke to ignite the Rockets fans into a frenzy as he collected
his fifth goal in just seven games.
Feenstra also notched a
pair of assists for a total of three points.
The CAHL 2006-2007 Playoff MVP Trophy winner
Eric Havinga fired in a
big pair of goals for the Rockets.
Mike Parton made a great pass to
set up one of Eric Havinga's
goals on a two on one break and also scored one himself for a
two point night. Point per game defenceman
Jason Upton also scored.
Rocket
Tim Ryskamp contributed a
couple of assists and now has seven helpers in just five games.
Team mates
Jordan Pinkster,
Kurt Bransma,

Steven Havinga each
picked up a single assist.
The Rockets goalie
Alex Nutma made a great save
on a breakaway in the middle frame and remains second overall
among goalie leaders for goals against average.
Nutma now carries a .902
save percentage over his last two games with 46 saves on 51
shots.
With a goal in the first period
Patrick Lauzon moved up
to tie
Mike Cook for the most
points on the Ice Storm. However
Lauzon sits first in
team scoring as he holds the tie breaking edge with more goals.
Ice Storm
Shaughn McAuliffe
scored a goal immediately after a face off in the final period
to continue his blazing pace with nine goals in just his last
four games.
Joe Sims and
Martin Robichaud
contributed an assist apiece for the Ice Storm offence.
Goaltender
Mark Cole faced 35 pucks
through the three periods and was the Ice Storm player of the
game as he made numerous big stops especially his tremendous pad
save on a clear cut shorthanded breakaway chance in the third
period.

Rockets
all-star defenceman
Jason Upton put on a clinic
as he deked around three opponents to go in undefended for a
close range shot only to be thwarted by a tremendous save from
Extreme goaltender Ian Brunton.
That was the tone of
the game as it was a battle of the goalies all night with the
Rockets goalie
Alex Nutma matching
Ian Brunton save for save
for the eventual 3-3 tie.
Each goaltender was his team's player of the game and both
finished with an identical 25 saves on 28 shots for an .893 save
percentage.
Among
Alex Nutma's big stops the
most memorable might have been his incredible glove save on a
wide open chance due to a turnover late in the game to preserve
a 3-3 tie.
Mike Parton topped all Rockets
with a strong two point match as he scored a goal and an assist.
Scott Bouwman fired in
his ninth career regular season and playoff combined shorthanded
goal which was also his 70th career regular season goal.
Eric Havinga opened the
scoring for the Rockets less than two minutes into the first
period. Team mates
Brian Havinga,
Steven Havinga, and
Kurt Bransma
contributed an assist apiece.
Isaac Reid fired in two big
goals for the Extreme while
Kris Pickering put his
team on the scoreboard first at the 2:33 mark of the initial
period.
Brad Kerr had a great three
point match as he got the first assist on all of the Extreme's
goals.
Mark Romaniuk made a
solid two assist contribution on the night.

Rockets on Wednesday, July 4
Scott Bouwman was at the
top of his game as he led the
Rockets with
four goals and one assist for a five point player of the game
performance in their
Wednesday night win against the
Tornadoes.
With 19 points so far this season
Scott Bouwman is now in a
three way tie with teammate
Steve Brandon and Extreme
David Shierman for the
overall scoring race.
Mike Parton was top notch for the
Rockets as well as he finished with a total of four points.
Cody Feenstra had a big
two point effort while
Jason Upton and
Eric Havinga each launched
in a goal. Number 28 Brian Havinga
and
Tim Ryskamp each collected
an assist.
Goalie
Alex Nutma was strong between the pipes through the three
periods for the Rockets as he made some great saves on short
range chances.
Tommy McIvor was the
Tornadoes player of the game for the second consecutive match.
McIvor finished with an
awesome four point night and was in on every one of his team's
scores as he fired in a pair of goals and assists.
McIvor increased his
points per game average to 2.00 and now leads the Tornadoes in
scoring as well.
Patricio
Inostroza and
Kenton Lefthand also
fired in goals for the Tornadoes while
Steve Rasmussen
contributed a pair of assists.
Tornadoes defenceman
Brad MacDonald made a
fantastic play as he utilized his speed to race back and prevent
a breakaway opportunity in the third period.

2-5 on Wednesday night.
Goaltender Alex Nutma
was the Rockets player of the game. Nutma made a total of 26
saves including 13 in the first period alone and also
contributed a assist on the first Rockets goal.
Steve Brandon and
Scott Bouwman scored for
the Rockets while
Tim Ryskamp and
Eric Havinga each
contributed an assist.
The Potters player of the game
Scott Roy scored a hat trick
which included a pair of short handed goals and the game winning
goal.
Dave Maskwa had a four
point night with one goal and three assists.
Brandon Gramlich also
scored while
Jason Villeneuve had
two assists and
Kirk Ringuette picked up
one.

Thomas Waters deflected

stopped 19 of the 21 pucks fired her way to lead the
Blades of Steel to a
4-2 victory over the
Rockets.
Graeme Kozin
got the Blades of Steel on the score board first with his fourth
goal in just two games. Blades of Steel
Brad Roy
rifled in
a great short handed breakaway goal late in the initial period.
Team mate
Shawn Gallahger
added another short hander and the eventual game winner for the
Blades of Steel early in the middle frame. Later in the same
period Trevor Reynolds
launched a howitzer right at the top corner for his team's
fourth goal of the game.
Conrad Boychuk,
Chris Hill, and
Will Bernier each
contributed an assist.
Steve Brandon
was the player of the game for the Rockets for the third
straight match as he scored his team's second goal of the night
and was a threat throughout the three periods.
Steven Havinga notched
his team's first goal which was assisted by
Scott Bouwman.

completed the game with some big stops such as his saves during
an intense scramble around his crease in the middle period.

Steve Brandon fueled the
Rockets offence with a dominant eight
goal and two assist performance as his team defeated the
Gladiators.
Rockets all-star
defenceman
Kurt Bransma had an
incredible eight point night while
Scott Bouwman,
Cody Feenstra, and
Eric Havinga notched six,
five, and four points respectively.
Scott Bergen had a four
point match for the Rockets as well. Team mate
Jason Upton and
Steven Havinga both had
big three point games.
Jordan Pinkster
contributed a pair of points while
Mike Parton and
Brian Havinga
each collected one assist.
The Rockets all-star
goalie
Phil Bonk turned away 21
shots which included a great pad stack save in the middle period
on a close range shot and another top flight double leg slide
save in the final period on a clear cut breakaway chance.
Adel Fares was the
Gladiators player of the game as he fired in a goal and set up
another.
Fares also displayed his
quick hand eye coordination as he made an amazing goal stopping
defensive play when he stopped a shot, undoubtedly headed into
the open net, with just his stick blade which was in the crease
just inches from the goal line.
Gladiators
Sam Fares and
Zine Hussein notched
multiple point games as well.
Fares scored one goal and two assists while
Hussein collected one
of each. Both players now have five points in just their first
two games.
Hadi Fares also
contributed an assist in the final period on
Zine Hussein's goal.
Gladiators goaltender Lino Martino
deflected 25 pucks through the three periods and made some
memorable saves such as during the midway point of the first
frame when he completely denied a point blank one timed shot.

Last season's CAHL MVP
Trophy winner
Steve Brandon set the
pace early with a great back hand deke breakaway goal just 2:43
into the game.
Steve Brandon added three
more goals in the second frame and two more in the third for a
fantastic total of six goals and one assist to lead his
Rockets
to victory against the
Snipers.
All-star Rockets
Scott Bouwman and
Kurt Bransma totaled an
incredible six points apiece with
Bouwman scoring a hat
trick and three assists while Bransma
notched a pair of goals and four assists.
The 2006-2007 CAHL Playoff MVP Trophy winner
Eric Havinga,
Tim Ryskamp, and all-star
defenceman Jason Upton each
had great three point nights.
Jordan Pinkster and
Cody Feenstra both had
big matches for the Rockets as well with each player notching
two points.
Rockets goalie Phil Bonk was
strong between the pipes and made a tremendous glove grab during
the middle period on a shot that was labeled for the top corner.
The Snipers player of
the game Jamie Sexton led
the way with an exciting penalty shot goal which displayed his
speed and hands as he finished it off with an excellent backhand
deke.
Jamie Sexton also set up a
goal for a total of two points.
Jeff Stevenson had a big
two point effort as well with a goal and an assist.
Sniper
Steven Farmer rifled in a
laser like top corner shot in the second period while
Alex Fraser,
Conor Falk, and
Ian Sexton also contributed
goals with each player firing in one apiece.
Justin Caskey and
Chris Bierwagon each
notched an assist for the Snipers.
Snipers goaltender
Josh Wildey averaged 1.12
saves per minute as he turned away an incredible total of 47
shots which included a huge save on the ever dangerous 60 goal
scorer
Steve Brandon who went
from coast to coast for the scoring chance and also on a point
blank one timed shot which was set up from a perfect cross ice
pass during the second period.
